16 To the Clerk of Kent County Court This is to certify that a mulatto woman Harriet Lockerman formerly Harriet Thomas now present is the identical person mentioned in a deed of Manumission executed by me on the thirtieth day of March Eighteen hundred and thirty six and which is recorded in Liber J. N. G. No 2 pages 420 and 421 one of the record books for Kent County Geo S. Hollyday Nov 6th 1849 Filed and recorded November 6th 1849 and certificate of freedom issued as follows Maryland Kent County to wit I Joseph Redue Clerk of Kent County Court hereby certify to all whom it doth or may concern that it appears by the records of Kent County aforesaid that a certain George S. Hollyday of the said County by his certain deed of Manumission bearing date the thirtieth day of March in the year eighteen hundred and thirty six did manumit, liberate, set free and discharge from slavery a Mulatto woman of dark complexion named Harriet then about twenty one years of age I further certify that a dark mulatto woman now present (the bearer hereof) called and known by the name of Harriet Lockerman aged between thirty four and thirty five years five feet three inches high of a dark mulatto complexion and has a scar between the wrist and elbow of the left arm has proved by testimony which is satisfactory to me that she if the identical person mentioned and described by the name of Harriet in the deed of manumission above referred to and that she was raised in Kent County |
