14 proved by testimony which is satisfactory to me that she is the identical person mentioned and described by the name of Elizabeth Sheppard in the Deed of Manumission above referred to and that she was raised in Kent County In testimony whereof I hereto ( seal of ) subscribe my name and affix (Kent County ) the seal of Kent County Court (Court Maryland) this twenty sixth day of September in the year Eighteen hundred and forty nine Joseph Redue Clerk of Kent County Court State of Maryland Issued and recorded on the 26th of September 1849 By Joseph Redue Clerk To the Clerk of Kent County Court This is to certify that Mary Ford woman of color was free born and was raised in Kent County Maryland and is now about seventeen years and nine months old Benjamin F. Price Oct 2nd 1849 Filed and recorded October 2nd 1849 and certificate of freedom issued as follows Maryland Kent County to wit I Joseph Redue Clerk of Kent County Court hereby certify to all whom it doth or may concern that it hath been proved by testimony which is satisfactory to me that the bearer hereof a negro woman named Mary Ford aged about seventeen years and nine months five feet one inch and three fourths of an inch high of a light complexion with a scar over the right eye and also one on the right elbow from a burn was born free and raised in Kent County |
