12 To the Clerk of Kent County Court We the subscribers know Rebecca Potts and James Potts the bearer hereof and certify hereby that they are the children of Thomas Potts (Free Negro) were free born given under our hands and seals this day of March 1848 and they were both raised in Kent County William F Smyth John McDaniel Jno E. Casey September 21st 1849 Filed and recorded September 21st 1849 and certificates of freedom issued as follows Maryland Kent County to wit I Joseph Redue Clerk of Kent County Court hereby certify to all whom it doth or may concern that it hath been proved by testimony which is satisfactory to me that James Potts the bearer hereof a negro man aged about twenty eight years five feet three and three quarter inches high of a Dark complexion was born free and raised in Kent County In testimony whereof I hereto set ( seal of ) my hand and affix the seal of Kent (Kent County ) County Court this twenty first day of (Court Maryland) September Eighteen hundred and forty nine Joseph Redue Clerk of Kent County Court Maryland Issued and recorded on the 21st of September 1849 By Joseph Redue Clerk Maryland Kent County to wit I Joseph Redue Clerk of Kent County Court hereby certify to all whom it doth or may concern that it hath been proved by testimony which is satisfactory to me that Rebecca Potts the bearer hereof a negro woman aged about twenty one or twenty two years five feet and about an half inch |
