Issued and recorded on the 7th of September 1849

To the Clerk of Kent County Court
                                  I hereby certify that Harriet Price bearer
hereof aged about thirty four years is a free woman
she was raised in Kent County and still resides
therein.  Given under my hand this day and year
aforesaid                           Wm S. Lapelle
                                         September 8th 1849

Filed and recorded September 8th 1849 and
certificate of Freedom issued as follows
State of Maryland Kent County to wit;
                               I Joseph Redue Clerk of Kent County
Court hereby certify that it hath been proved by
testimony which is satisfactory to me that the
bearer hereof a negro woman named Harriet Price
aged about thirty four years five feet high
the little toe lost off the right foot of a
dark complexion was born free and raised
in Kent County
(  seal of                    In testimony whereof I hereto subscribe
(Kent County            my name and affix the seal of Kent
(Court Maryland)      County Court this Eighth day of September
                                 in the year Eighteen hundred and forty
                                 nine                  Joseph Redue Clerk of  
                                                         Kent County Court State of
                                                                               Maryland

To the Clerk of Kent County Court
                         This is to certify that negro Hannah
Ringgold who is now present and applying for a
certificate of freedom is the identical person
mentioned in a deed of Manumission executed
by Hynson Smith and others on the 28 october
