November Court           1735            99

County af.d upon their oath do present that James Wetherly late of Somerset
parish in the County af.d planter the thirtieth day of October
in the year of our Lord God Seventeen hundred thirty and five at
the parish af.d in the County af.d within the Jurisdiction of this Court
in and upon a Certain Jacob Crouch Jun.r in the peace of God and of
the same Lord proprietary then and there being with force and
Arms an assault did make and the said Jacob then and there did
beat wound and Evilly treat so that of his life it was greatly despaired
and other harms to him then and there did to the great damage
of the same Jacob and against the peace of the said Lord proprietary
that now is his good rule and Government &a
Test   Mitchell Dashiell, Jacob Crouch Jun.r            On the backside
of the foregoeing bill of Indictment it was Endorsed as Followeth
Viz.t                                          Billa Vera Sam.ll Wilson foreman

    Thereupon Command was given to the Sheriff of Somerset County that he
should take the said James Wetherly if &.a to answer &.a and afterwards to
witt the Eighteenth day of November Ann: Dom: One thousand Seven
hundred and thirty five before the Justices of his Lordships County Court
of Somerset now here held at dividing Creek in and for the same
County came the aforesaid James Wetherly in his proper person according
to a Certain recognizance by him and his Security before Acknowledged
and had a hearing of the Indictment af.d who thereupon says that
of the trespass and assault af.d as by the Indictment aforesaid above upon
him Imposed he is guilty thereof &.a

    Whereupon all and singular the premisses by the Court here seen heard
and fully understood  It is Considered that the aforesaid James Wetherly
pay unto his Lordship the right hoourable the Lord proprietary for
his fine by the Court hereupon him Imposed for and by Occasion of
the trespass and assault af.d whereof in form aforesaid he is Convict
two Shillings and Six pence Current money of Maryland and that
the said James Wetherly be taken to satisfie his said Lordship of the fine
aforesaid

Coventry parish in the County af.d planter the fifth day
of November Ann: Dom: Seventeen hundred thirty and five at the
parish af.d in the County af.d within the Jurisdiction of this Court with
force and arms in and upon a Certain John Hamond of the same County in
the peace of God and the same Lord prop.ry then and there being an
assault did make and him the said John then and there did beat
