William Caldwell
Somerset County ss.t    The Jurors for the right
honourable the Lord proprietary that now is for
the body of Somerset County af.d upon their Oath do
present that William Caldwell late of Somerset parish
in the County af.d planter the twenty third day of August Ann: Dom
Seventeen hundred thirty and five at the parish af.d in the County afd
within the Jurisdiction of this Court in and upon a Certain William Boadley
in the peace of God and of the said Lord proprietary then and there
being with force and Arms an Assault did make and him the said
William Boadley then and there did beat wound and evilly treat so
that of his life it was greatly despaired and other harms to him then
and there did to the great damage of the same William Boadley
and against the peace of the said Lord propry that now is his good rule
and Government &a
Test   Wm Bodley, James Anderson, Joseph Macclester

On the backside of the foregoing bill of Indictment it was Endorsed
as Followeth Viz.t      Billa Vera Sam.ll Willson foreman

       Thereupon Command was given to the Sher of Somerset County
that he should take the said William Caldwell if &.a to answer &.a
and afterwards to witt the Eighteenth day of November Ann: Dom:
One thousand Seven hundred and thirty five before the Justices of
his Lordships County Court of Somerset now here held at dividing
Creek in and for the Same County came the aforesaid William
Caldwell in his proper person according to a Certain recognizance
by him and his Security before Acknowledged and had a hearing of
the Indictment af.d who thereupon says that of the trespass and
assault af.d ^as by the Indictment aforesaid above upon him Imposed^ he is guilty thereof &a

    Whereupon all and Singular the premisses by the Court here
seen heard and fully understood   It is Considered that the aforesaid
William Caldwell pay unto his Lordship the right honourable the
Lord proprietary for ^his^ fine by the Court hereupon him Imposed for
and by Occasion of the trespass and assault af.d whereof in form
aforesaid he is Convict twenty Shillings Current money of Maryland
and ^that^ the said William Caldwell be taken to satisfie his said Lordship
of the fine af.d       and the Severall Officers their Fees due upon the Indictment aforesaid
Whereupon Joseph M.aClester Gent his Sheriff of Somerset County by James Anderson his deputy
present took Charge of the said W.m Caldwell accordingly &a
