to give Security for the payment of the severall Officers Fees due by
Occasion of the premisses af.d upon the Indictment af.d thereupon a Certain
John Handy of Somerset County Gent present herein Court in his
proper person acknowledged himself indebted unto his Lordship the
Lord proprietary in the sum of five pounds sterling of his body
goods or Chattells lands or tenements to be made and levied to the use
of the Officers of Somerset County Court that hath any right to any
Fees upon the Indictment af.d &.a            If it happen that the
said John Handy do not pay and satisfie unto the Severall Officers their
Fees due by Occasion of the premisses af.d upon the Indictment af.d &.a

    Likewise the said Stephen Lank is ordered to give good Security to save
and keep Endempnified the Justices of Somerset County Court and their
Successors for the time being from all Costs Charges troubles and burthens
that might accrew by means of the birth &a of the bastard Child af.d lately
begot on the body of the afd Francis Johnson &a

    Thereupon a Certain George Lank of Somerset County planter present
herein Court in his proper person undertook for the said Stephen
Lank and acknowledged himself indebted unto his Lordship the Lord
proprietary in the sum of thirty pounds Sterling of his goods and
Chattells lands and tenements Severally to be made and levied to the
use of Somerset County if it happen that the aforesaid Stephen Lank
his heirs Executors and Administrators or any of them do and shall not
from time to time and at all times forever hereafter acquitt discharge
and save harmless as well the Justices of Somerset County Court and their
Successors (for the time being) as also the Inhabitants of the same
County from all Costs Charges and troubles whatsoever for or by reason
of the birth maintainance nourishing and bringing up of the said Child
and of and from all other suits Charges troubles and demands whatsoever
touching or Concerning of the same &a

af.d upon their Oath do present that Stephen Langcake
late of Stepney parish in the County af.d planter the first day of
March in the Year of our Lord God Seventeen hundred thirty and four at
the parish af.d in the County af.d within the Jurisdiction of this Court did
committ fornication with a Certain Elizabeth Johnson and of her body
then and there had carnal knowledge and a bastard Child on the body of
her the same Elizabeth then and there did beget to the high displeasure
of Almighty God to the evil Example of all others in such Case Offending
contrary to the peace of the said Lord prop.ry that now is his good rule
and Government and against the form of the act of assembly in such
Case lately made and provided &.a

Indictment it was thus Endorsed Viz.t   a True bill p Jso Caldwell foreman

       Thereupon Command was given to the Sheriff of Somerset County that
he should take the said Stephen Langcake if &.a to answer &.a  And afterwards
