96 be made and Levied to the Use of Somerset County if it Happen that the aforesaid James Townsend his heirs Executors and Administrators or any of them do and shall not from time to time and at all times forever hereafter acquitt discharge and save harmless as well the Justices of Somerset County Court (for the time being) and their Successors as also the Inhabitants of the same County from all Costs Chargers and troubles whatsoever for or by reason of the birth maintainance nour^ish^ inging and Bringing up ^of^ the said Child and of and from ^all^ other suits Charges troubles and demands whatsoever touching or Concerning of the Same &a
in the County afd within the Jurisdiction of this Court did Commit fornication with a Certain Frances Johnson and of her body then and there had Carnall knowledge and a bastard Child on the body of her the said Frances then and there did begett to the high displeasure of almighty God to the Evill Example of all Others in such Case offending contrary to the peace of the said Lord propry that now is his Good rule and government and against the form of form of the act of assembly in Such Case Lately made and provided &.a Test Frances Johnson On the backside of the foregoing bill of Indictment it was thus Endorsed viz.t Billa Vera Robert Jones Foreman Thereupon Command was given to the Sheriff of Somerset that he Should take the Said Stephen Lank if &.a to answer &.a And afterwards to witt the Eighteenth day of November Anno Dom One thousand seven hundred and thirty five Came hereinto Court a Certain John Handy of Somerset County Gent in his proper person and Saith that he is willing to pay thirty Shillings Currt money for the said Stephen Lank for his fine by Occasion of the premisses afd &a Whereupon all and singular the premisses by the Court here seen heard and fully understood and mature deliberation thereupon had wherefore it is Considered by the Justices here that the aforesaid Stephen Lank pay unto his Lordship the right honourable the Lord proprietary for his fine by the Court hereupon him Imposed for and by Occasion of the premisses af.d whereof in form aforesaid he is Convict thirty Shillings Currant money of Maryland and for the use of the County af.d and that the said Stephen Lank be taken to satisfie his said Lordship of the fine af.d &.a Whereupon the said Stephen Lank is ordered (to |
