said apprentice meat drink washing Lodging and Cloathing mete for such an apprentice to have & wear during
the term afd &a   thereupon the said Francis Harper is ordered to give security for to Comply with the
Covenants aforesaid
                                  Whereupon the said Francis Harper with John Webb of Somerset County planter his
security both present here in Court in their proper persons acknowledged themselves Indebted unto the said
Melvin Dukes in the sum of twenty pounds Curr.t money of Maryland of their bodys goods or Chattells severally
to be made and Levied to the use of the said Melvin Dukes his heirs and assignes if it happen that the
said Francis Harper do not during the term aforesaid Learn his said apprentice the trade of a weaver &
Read write and Cypher as far as the rule of three Inclusive and at the Expiration of his servitude
do not give his said apprentice A Loom three slaise and three pair of geares a warping Barrs and
box and a hiefer of three Years old and a new Suit of Cloaths over and above his Common Wearing Cloaths
and do not provide for his said apprentice meat drink washing Lodging and Cloathing mete for such an
apprentice to have & wear during the term aforesaid &a                                                      then &a

petition of John Gilliland humbly sheweth y.t whereas your
petitioner hath an Negro Woman named Flora y.t is foolish
and other ways distemper'd with y.e Kickixsey so y.t she hath altogether
been useless to your petitioner humbly prays y.t she may be
tax free & as in duty bound shall ever pray

The petition af.d being read and heard and fully understood and mature
deliberation thereupon had  wherefore it is Considered that the af.d John
Gilliland be discharged from paying of taxes for the af.d Negro Wench
Flora as by the petition aforesaid is praid &.a

To the Worshipfull his Lordships Justices of Somerset County
Court the humble petition of Comfort Benton sheweth
that your petitioner is possessed of a Negro Man named
Massala who is so Infirm as that he is altogether incapable of doing
any work & is chargeable to your petitioner & is notwithstanding
returned as a taxable your petitioner humbly prays your worships
will be pleased to discharge her from paying his taxes and as in
duty bound she shall pray &.a                        Comfort Benton

    The petition af.d being read and heard and fully understood and Mature
deliberation thereupon had wherefore it is Considered that the af.d Comfort
Benton be discharged from paying of taxes for the af.d Negro Man
Massala as by the petition aforesaid is praid &a
