White Oak and told him that it was the Corner tree of y.e afores.d land
and y.t y.e above deponant set a Course being a Course of y.e pattant S E

Oak Supposed to be a nother bounder of y.e s.d tract it agreeing with y.e
afores.d white Oak and further saith not

William Duer aged thirty or there abouts being Sworn on y.e holy
Evangelist of Almighty God do say that Hugh Nelson former owner of
y.e Land called poplar Hill brought y.e above deponant and Christopher
Glass to the aboves.d White Oak and told them his Land came thither and
further saith not      These depositions taken before us y.e 17.th 9.br 1735

          To the worshipfull ^Justices^ of Somerset County now sitting the humble
petition of John Dennis Sen.r humbly sheweth that he has a Certaine negro
wench Called Cate that is past her Labour and humbly desires your worships will set
her free from paying of Taxes and with your worships granting the within Mentioned
petition your petitioner as in duty bound shall ever pray            Jn.o Dennis Senr

    The petition afd being read and heard and fully understood and mature deliberation thereupon
had wherefore it is Considered that the afd John Dennis Sen.r be discharged from paying
of Taxes for the afd negro wench Cate as by the petition afd is praid &a

& Recognizance to keep
Tavern
James Lindow of somerset County Gent Came hereinto
Court in his proper person and prays that he may have the Liberty
to keep Ordinary or a house of Entertainment at his
house at the head of Manocan ^in prince ann Town^ in Somerset County for
the ease and Conveniency of the Inhabitants travellors and Strangers as to
them respectively shall Seem meet which is by the Court here granted
him he giving good Security according to act of assembly in such Case
made and provided &.a            Whereupon the said James Lindow
with William Stoughton and Samuel Wilson of Somerset County Gent
his Securitys all present herein Court in their proper persons acknowledged
themselves Indebted unto his Lordship the Lord proprietary of the
province of Maryland in the Sum of five pounds Current money of
Maryland of their goods and Chattells Lands and tenements Joyntly and
Severally to be made and levied to the use of his Said Lordship his heirs
and Successors If it happen that the said James Lindow ^do^ (and Shall) not
pay unto his said Lordship the sum of fifty Shillings Curr.t money of
