62 Ordered that Joshua Caldwell be Overseer of the Roads in Pocomoke hundred in the Stead of Jacob Adams and that he Clear farther than his Usuall Limitts a road from Archabald Whites to the Mouth of Marumsco Creek &a The Justices of Somerset County Court in Court Judicially Sitting agreed with Capt John Smith to ^build^ a good Substantiall new bridge over Saint Martins River at the usuall place where the bridge was built before the said Bridge to be built twelve feet wide with good white oake planck well Laid about two Inches thick with a good and Sufficient New Frame of sills posts platts and Joice to support the Said Bridge the said John Smith finding and providing all the Necessarys aforesaid for the Erecting building and Compleating of the bridge afd at the place afd Substantiall strong and good at his own proper Costs and Charges &a In consideration whereof the said John Smith is to be allowed at November Court Next two thousand five hundred pounds of tobacco or twelve pounds ten Shillings Curr.t mony of Maryland in paper Bills to be paid in Either of the Species afd at the Election of the Justices of the County Court afd in Case the said Bridge by that time is made good and Compleat according to the true Intent and meaning of the said agreement &a
a Certain Rachell Lingoe) by saying that he the said Isaac Handy had done him Injustice and if there was as much Justice in the County to be had he would have it and if not he would go to the Governour the aforesaid Patrick Kersie being present herein Court in his proper person and the Justices having heard the Severall Allegations as well on the part of the Said Isaac Handy as on the part of the said Patrick Kersie &.a Wherefore it is Considered by the Court here that the Said Patrick Kersie pay unto his Lordship the right honrble the Lord proprietary for his fine afd One hundred pounds of tobacco for and by occasion of the Speaking and Uttering of the words afd And that the said Patrick Kersie be taken to Satisfie his said Lordship of the fine afd &a Likewise the said Patrick Kersie is ordered by the Justices of Somerset County Court to give good security for his good behaviour and appearance at November Court Next to be held for Somerset County at dividing Creek &a Whereupon the said Patrick Kersie of Somerset County planter with John Caldwell of somerset County Gent both present here in Court in their proper persons acknowledged themselves Indebted unto his Lordship the Lord Proprietary in the Sum of five pounds sterling Each of their Severall |
