(60) Peace & good behaviour to us & the said Subjects & if they shall refuse to find Such Security that then you cause them to be Committed into safe Custody untill they shall be Delivered by due Course of Law from thence also wee have assign'd you & Every three or more of you of whom wee will you the said John Hall, Richard Tillman, Mathew Tillman Ward, John Rousby, Benj.a Tasker, Philip Lee, John Rider, Mich.l Howard, George Plater, Edmond Jennings & Charles Hammond Esq.rs and Robert King Jn.o Smith, Balt hundred, William Stoughton, John Handy, James Dashiell, John Scott, James Martin, William Lane, Thomas Williams & Henry Ballard or one of you always to be one of our Justices to Enquire by the oaths of good and lawfull men of our County af.d by whom the truth of the premises may be the better known of all and all manner of Felonies, witchcrafts, Enchantments, sorceries, or to Magick, trespasses, Engrossings, Regreatings, Forestallings & Extortions whatsoever & of all other Misfeazances & offences whatsoever of which Justices of our peace lawfully may or ought to Enquire by whomsoever or howsoever in our County af.d done or Committed or which may hereafter happen to be done or Committed and also of all those who in our County afores.d in Riotous manner have gone or Rode or shall hereafter presume to go or ride with Armed forces against our peace to the disturbance of the Kings Subjects & of all such who in our Country af.d have lain or shall hereafter presume to lye in wait to maim or kill any of the Kings Subjects And also of all ordinary keepers & other persons who have offended or shall hereafter presume to offend in the above of Weights or Measures against the acts of assembly for the Comon Good & profit now in this province made & used And also of the Sheriffs Bailiffs, Constables & other Officers who have or Shall hereafter Misbehave themselves in the Execution of their offices or have been remiss or Negligent in the Execution thereof or shall hereafter happen so to be within out County afores.d & of all and every the articles matters & things whatsoever howsoever or by whomsoever in our County afores.d done or Committed or that Shall hereafter happen to be done or Committed Concerning the premises or any of them & to Inspect all Indictments before you or any of you taken or to be taken or before our late Instances of the peace within our said County had and taken & not yet determined And Process thereon against all or any ^person or^ persons so Indicted or which shall hereafter happen to be Indicted within our County afores.d to make and Continue untill they shall be taken or surrender themselves or be outlawed & to hear & determine all & every the Felonies, Witchcrafts, Indictments & all other the matters afores.d so far forth as they shall provide and where they are silent according to the Laws Statutes & reasonable Customs of England used & practised within this province & the said delinquents & every of them (to Chastise |
