(40) of July Ann Dom seventeen hundred and thirty three at Somerset County af.d within the Jurisdiction of this Court did make his certain note in writing Commonly called a promissary note with his proper hand thereto subscribed bearing date the day and year last mentioned which note the said John Britt to the said Ralph Corbin then and there did deliver and by the same note promised to pay to the said Ralph by the name of Ralph Corbin of the County of Accomack in virginia or to his order the sum of five pounds in Cash Currency of Virginia or the value thereof in Indian Corn at the rate of fifteen pence per bushell of the value of five pounds ten Shillings Current money of Maryland & one handmill standing in Thomas Billings house with Cullen Stones and all her appurtenances of the Value of two pounds fifteen Shillings Current money of Maryland Convenient upon pocomoke river upon demand after the date of the said note for value before that time received by reason whereof and by force of the Statute in that case made and provided the said John became Chargeable to pay ^to^ the said Ralph or his order the afores.d five pounds Current money of Virginia and the handmill Cullenstones and appurtenances af.d of the value af.d upon demand according to the tenor of that note and the said John being so thereof Chargeable on Consideration thereof afterwards to wit the same day and year last mentiond at Somerset County af.d and within the Jur af.d upon himself did assume and to the said Ralph then and there faithfully promise that he the said John the said five pounds Current money of Virginia and the said handmill Cullenstones and appurtenances of the value af.d to the said Ralph when he should be afterwards thereof required would faithfully content and pay and altho the said John hath delivered to the said Ralph the handmill Cullenstones and appurtenances af.d of the value of two pounds fifteen shillings Current money of Maryland Nevertheless as to ^the^ five pounds Current money of Virginia ^af.d^ of the value of five pounds ten shillings Current money of Maryland the said John Bret his promise and assumption af.d in manner and form af.d made nothing rearding but minding and fraudulently Intending the said Ralph in that part Craftily and Subtilly to deceive and defraud the af.d five pounds Current (money |
