317 of the Court &.c whereupon all and Singular the premisses by the Court here seen heard and fully understood &c It is Considered that the afd William Conner pay unto his Lordship the right honrble the Lord proprietary for his fine by the Court here upon him Imposed for and by Occasion of the trespass and assault ^afd^ whereof in form afd he is Convict six pence Curr.t money of Maryland and that the said William Conner be taken to Satisfie his said Lordship of the fine afd &c
the Jurisdiction of this Court in and upon a Certain Eliz.a Marchant wife of Benj.a Marchant of the same County planter in the peace of god and of the said Lord proprietary then and there being with force and Arms an assault did make the same Eliz.a then and there did beat wound and evilly treat so that of her life it was much despaired and other harms to her then and there did to the great damage of the same Eliz.a and against the peace of the said Lord proprietary that now is his good Rule and Government &c Test Elizabeth Merchant On the foregoing bill of Indictment it was Endorsed vizt True Bill p Wm Jones foreman Thereupon Command was given to the sheriff of Somerset County that he sho^u^ld taken the said William Conner if he should be found in his bailywick and him should safe keep so that he might have his body before the Justices of his Lordships County Court of Somerset to be held in the Court House at dividing Creek in the same County the third Tuesday of March then Next to answer unto his said Lordship of and Concerning the Indictment af.d for trespass and assault &c and that thereof he Should not fail &c Att which said Third tuesday of march to witt the fifteenth day of the Same month ann Dom One thousand Seven hundred and thirty Six before the Justices of his Lordships County Court of Somerset now here held in the Court house at dividing Creek in & for the same County Came the said William Conner in his proper person and had a hearing of the Indictm.t afd and being Instantly demanded how he would acquitt himselfe of the premisses afd as by the Indictment afd above upon him Imposed saith that he will not Contend with his said Lordship the Lord Proprietary but Submits with a protestation of his Innocency and puts himselfe upon the favour of the Court &c whereupon all and singular the premisses by the Court here seen heard and fully understood It is Considered that the afd William Conner pay unto his Lordship the Lord propry for his fine by the Court here upon him Imposed |
