Commissioners and Execute the same Commission According to Law &c

     To the Worshipfull Justices of Somerset County now in Court sitting
the humble petition of your petitioner humbly prays Liberty of turning
a small peace of Road which will be of Great service to me and nothing out
the way to Aney parsons as may use the said Roade as as your petitioner is duty bound
shall ever pay
                                           the petition aforesaid being read and heard and fully understood
and mature deliberation thereupon had  Wherefore it is Considered by the Court here that
the afd petition be granted as praid so that the New road be first cleared and made according to the
direction of Capt Edward Rownd before the old one ^be^ Stopt &c

Lycence & recogn to
keep Tavern
John Followes of Somerset County Inholder Came hereunto Court in his
proper person and prays that he may be Admitted to keep an ordinary or
house of entertainment at the head of Manocan in princes Ann Town in
Somerset County for the ease and Convencency of the Inhabitants travellers and Strangers as to
them respectively shall seem mete which is by the Court here granted unto him he giving good Security
According to Act of assembly in such Case made and provided &c  Whereupon the said John
Follows with Levin Gale Esq.r his Security both present herein Court in their proper
persons Acknowledged themselves Indebted unto Lordship the Lord proprietary of the provinces
of Maryland &c      In the sum of five pounds Curr.t money of said province of their goods
and Chattells Land and tennements Joyntly and severally to be made and Levied to the use
of his said Lordship his heirs and Successors if the it happen that the said John Follows do (and shall)
not pay unto his said Lordship the sum of fifty shillings Curr.t money of Maryland Yearly and every
year he shall keep such ordinary or house of entertainment as afd &c

Likewise the said John Follows and Levin Gale Esq.r his security both present herein Court
as afd  Acknowledged themselves Indebted unto his Lordship the Right Honourable the
Lord proprietary of the provinces of Maryland in the sum of forty pounds Curr.t money of
Maryland of their goods and Chattells Lands and tennements Joyntly and severally to be made
and levied to the use of his said Lordship his heirs and Successors if it happen that the said John
Follows do not keep good Rules and orders and do suffer Idle Loos and disorderly persons to tipple
game or Committ other disorders or Irregularities in his Ordinary or house of entertainment
during the time he shall keep the same Contrary to the true Intent and meaning of the Act
of assembly in such case made and provided &c
