of this Court in and upon a Certain John Sterling in the peace of God and of the said Lord Proprietary then and there with force and armes an assault did make and the said John Sterling then & there did beat wound and Evilly treat so that of his Life it was much despaired & other harms to him then & there did to the great damage of the Same John Sterling and against the peace of the said Lord Proprietary that now is his good rule and Government &a Test John Sterling On the backside of the foregoing Bill of Indictment it was thus Endorsed viz.t Billa Vera Samuel Wilson foreman Thereupon Command was given to the Sheriffe of Somerset County that he Should take the said John Redding if &a to answer &a and afterwards to witt the Seventeenth day of Aug.t Anno Dom One thousand Seven hundred and thirty Six before the Justices of his Lordships County Court of Somerset now here held at dividing Creek in the Same County Came the said John Redding in his proper person and had a hearing of the Indictment afd and thereupon he Submitts with a protestation of his Innocency and because he will not Contend with his said Lordship he putts himselfe upon the favour of the Court &a whereupon all & singular the premisses by the Court here seen heard and fully understood Therefore it is Considered by the Justices here that the afd John Redding pay unto his Lordship the Lord Proprietary for his fine by the Court hereupon him Imposed for and by Occasion of the prespass and assault afd whereof in form afd he is Convict ten Shillings Curr.t money of Maryland and that the said John Redding be taken to Satisfie ^his said Lordship^ of the fine afd and all the Officers ^fees^ due by means of the premisses afd &a thereupon the said sher to witt Joseph MaClester Gent present herein Court took Charge of the said John Redding accordingly &a Thereupon the said John Redding is ordered to give Security for his good behaviour and appearance before the Justices of his Lordships County Court of Somerset to be held at Dividing Creek the third Tuesday of ^Novem^ Next &a Whereupon the said John Redding with Jacob Adams of Somerset County planter his security both present here in Court in their proper persons acknowledged themselves Indebted |
