18 Test Henry Wincer On the backside of the foregoing Bill of Indictment it was thus Endorsed viz.t True Bill p Thomas Humphrys foreman thereupon Command was given to the Sheriff of Somerset County that he Should take the said Elizabeth Johnson if &a to answer &a and afterwards to witt the Seventeenth day of June anno Dom One thousand Seven hundred and thirty five before the Justices of his Lordships County Court of Somerset now held at dividing Creek in the Same County Came the afd Elizabeth Johnson in her proper person and had a hearing of the Indictment aforesaid and being Instantly demanded how she would acquitt herselfe of the premisses aforesaid above by the Indictment aforesaid upon her Imposed who thereupon says that of the premisses aforesaid above upon her Imposed she is Guilty thereof and is willing to pay her fine for the fact aforesaid Whereupon all and singular the premisses by the Court here seen heard and fully understood It is Considered that the aforesaid Elizabeth Johnson pay unto his Lordship the right honrble the Lord prory for her fine by the Court here upon her Imposed for and by Occasion of the premisses afd whereof in form afd she is Convict thirty Shillings Currant money for the Use of the County afd and that the said Elizabeth Johnson be taken to Satisife his said Lordship of the fine afd &a whereupon the Said Eliza Johnson is ordered by the Court to give Security for the payment of the Severall Officers Fees due by Occasion of the premisses afd thereupon a Certain Thomas Johnson of Somerset County planter present herein Court in his proper undertook for the said Eliza Johnson and acknowledged himselfe Indebted unto His Lordship the Lord prory in five pounds sterling to be Levied on his body goods or Chattells Lands or tenements to the Use of the Severall Officers that hath any right to any fees on the Indictment afd their heirs or assigns If it happen that the said Thomas Johnson do not pay and Satisfie unto the Severall Officers their Fees due by Occasion of the premisses afd on the Indictment afd &a
seventeen hundred thirty and four at the Parish afd in the County afd within the Jurisdiction of this Court did commit Fornication with a certain person to the Jurors afd unknown and did permit the same unknown person then and there to have carnal knowledge of her Body and to beget then and there a Bastard Child on the body of her the Same Hannah to the high Displeasure of almighty God to the ^evil^ Example of all others in such Case Offending contrary to the Peace of the said Lord prory |
