the Service and Employment of him the said Godfrey from the afd twenty ninth day of March Seventeen
hundred and thirty five untill the fifth day of May the next Ensuing so that from the Service
pformed by the said negroe Jacob from the Fifth day of November Seventeen hundred
and thirty four untill the fifth day of may Seventeen hundred and thirty five the full
term and Space of Six mounths in the Employment of the said Godfrey was fully Compleat
and Ended by which accon accrues to the said William to have and deceive from the said
Godfrey the full and Just Sume of one thousand pounds of tobacco according to the promisse
and assumption Neverthelese the said Godfrey his promise and assumption in form
made nothing regarding but plotting and fraudulently intending the said william
in that part Craftily and Subtilly to deceive and defraud the said one thousand pound of
Tobacco to the said William altho' the same to do the said Godfrey by the said william
of the Sixth day of may Anno Dom Seventeen hundred and thirty five and often
afterwards at the County of Somerset af.d he was thereunto requested hath not paid or
Contented but the same to him hitherto ^to^ pay hath refused And Still doth refuse and deny
To the Damage of the said William of two thousand pounds of tobacco  And thereupon
he brings Suit &.c                                                         Pledges & Jno Doe & R Roe

    And the aforesaid Godfrey Sprogles by William Beckingham his attorney Comes and defends
    the force and Injury when &.a and prays Leave thereof to Imparle hereuntill next Court and he
    hath it and the same day is given to the afd William Turpin here also &a
   
    Att which said next Court to witt the Eighteenth day of November anno Dom One thousand Seven
    hundred and thirty five Came againe as well the afd William Turpin as the afd Godfry Sprogles
    by their attorneys afd  And whereupon the same Godfrey prayes further Leave thereof to Imparle
    hereuntill next Court and he hath it and the Same day is given to the afd William here also &a

          Att which said next Court to witt the Sixteenth day of March anno Dom One thousand seven
hundred and thirty five Came againe as well the afd William Turpin as the afd Godfrey Sprogles
by their attorneys aforesaid and thereupon the said Godfr^e^y as before defends the force and
Injury ^when^ &a    and protesting that the declaration afd and ^the^ matter in the Same Contained are
al^to^gether insufficient in Law and that he thereto hath noe need or by the Law of the Land
in any sort is held to answer for plea he saith that he did not assume upon himselfe
in manner and form as the afd William Turpin above against him hath Complained and
thereof he putteth himselfe upon Country   and the plft in Like manner

       Thereupon ^it is^ Commanded as Given to the Sheriffe of Somerset County that Immediately
he Should Cause Come here before the Justices of his Lordships County Court of Somerset now
