  Honour Halley
 Somerset County sst     The Jurors for the Right honrble the Lord proprietary
that now is for the body of Somerset County af.d upon there Oath do
present that Honour Hally late of Coventry parish in the County
af.d Spinster the twenty Sixth day of December in the Year of our Lord
God Seventeen hundred thirty and five at the parish af.d in the County af.d
within the Jurisdiction of this Court did Commit fornication with a Certain
person to the Jurors af.d unknown and did permit the same unknown
person then and there to have carnall knowledge of her body and to beget
then and there a bastard Child on the body of her the same Honour to the
high displeasure of almighty God to the Evil Example of all others in
such Case offending contrary to the peace of the said Lord proprietary
that now is his good rule and Government and against the form of the
act of assembly in such Case lately made and provided &a
    Test   Joshua Merrill
                                        On the backside of the foregoing Bill of Indictment it was thus
Endorsed vizt Billa Vera Edmond Hough Foreman

          Thereupon Command was given to the Sheriff of Somerset County that he Should
take the said Honor Hally if &.a to answer &.a and afterwards to witt the Sixteenth day of
March ann.o Dom One thousand Seven hundred and thirty five before the Justices of his Lordships
County Court of Somerset now here held at dividing Creek in and for the Same County Came
the said Honour Halley in her proper person and had a hearing of the Indictment afd who thereupon
says that of the premisses afd as by the Indictment afd above upon him Imposed she is
Guilty thereof and makes oath that a Certain James Duffey is the father and Begetter of the Child
she stands Indicted for and hath not wherewithall to pay her fine for the fact afd &a

       Whereupon all and Singular the premisses by the Court here seen heard and fully understood  It
is Considered by the Court here that the said Honour Hally be whipt at the publick whiping post
with twen^ty^ Stripes on the Bare Back well Laid on untill the blood appear and that she be taken &a
and thereupon as to the Corporall punishment afd Command is given to the Sheriff of Somerset
County that he take the said Honour Halley to the publick whiping post and there give her Twenty
Stripes on the bare back well Laid on untill the blood appear and afterwards in the Same Court Came
the said Sheriff and made return that he had done the Execution of the Judgm.t afd as to the Corporall
punishment afd he was Commanded &a   and thereupon the said Honour Halley is ordered to return
home to her Masters Service &a
