 Somerset County ss     Jurors for the Right honourable the Lord
proprietary that now is for the body of Somerset County af.d upon their
Oath do present that James Duffey late of Coven^r^y parish in the
County af.d Taylor the eighteenth Day of January in the year of
       our Lord God seventeen hundred thirty and five at the parish af.d in the County
       af.d within the Jurisdiction of this Court in and upon a Certain Abraham Jones
       in the peace of God and of the said Lord proprietary then and there being with
       Force and Arms an assault did make and him the said Abraham ^then & there did Beat wound and Evilly treat so that^ of his Life
       it was much despaired and other Harmes to him then and there did to the great
       damage of the same Abraham and against the peace of the said Lord proprietary that
       Now is his good rule and Government &a

                                                                     Thereupon Command was given to the sheriff of Somerset
County that he Should take the said James Duffey if &.a to answer &.a  And afterwards to witt the
Sixteenth day of March anno Dom One thousand Seven hundred and thirty five before the Justices
of his Lordships County Court of Somerset now here held at dividing Creek in and for the
Same County Came the said James Duffey under Custody of the Sheriff of Somerset County into whose
Custody ^before that time^ was Committed for the Cause aforesaid and being by the Said sheriff Ledd to the Barr had a hearing
of the Indictment afd who thereupon saith that of the trespass and assault afd as by the Indictm.t
afd is above upon him Imposed he is guilty thereof &.a  Whereupon all and Singular the premisses
by the Court here seen heard and fully understood  It is Considered by the Justices here that the afd
James Duffey pay unto his Lordship the Right honrble the Lord Proprietary for his fine for by the
Court here upon him Imposed for and by Occasion of the trespass and assault afd whereof in form afd
he is Convict Twenty pounds Curr.t money of Maryland and that the said James Duffey be taken to
Satisfie his said Lordship of the fine aforesaid &.a ^ thereupon the said James Duffey is Committed by the Court here untill he satisfie his Lordship of the fine af.d &a^  Likewise the Said James Duffey is ordered
to give good Security for his good behaviour during the pleasure of the Court but for want
thereof the Said James Duffey is Committed into the Custody of the Sheriff of Somerset County
thereto remaine &.a the said Sheriff to witt Joseph MccClester Gent by Francis Porter his deputy present
took Charge of the said James Duffey accordingly  Likewise the said James Duffey is ordered
to give Security for the payment of the Severall Officers their Fees due by Occasion of the ^premisses afd^
Indictment afd &.a but for want thereof the said James Duffey is Committed into the Custody of
the Sheriff of Somerset County thereto remaine &.a the said Sheriff to witt Joseph McClester Gent
present ^as afd^ took Charge of the said James Duffey accordingly &a
