138 thousand seven hundred and thirty five before the Justices of his Lordship County Court of Somerset now here held at dividing Creek in and for the Same County Came the said Jeremiah Lilley in his proper person under Custody of the Sheriff of Somerset ^County^ and being by the said Sheriff Led to the barr and had a hearing of the Indictment aforesaid and being Instantly demanded how he would acquitt himselfe of the felony afd as by the Indictment afd above against him Supposed says that of he felony afd above against him Supposed he is Guilty thereof and Every thing in the Indictment afd Expressly Confesseth &a Whereupon all and Singular the premisses by the Court here seen heard and fully understood It seems to the Court here that the afd pair of Boots, Red Riding Coat and pair of Stockins are all of the Value of four hundred and Twenty pounds of tobo Thereupon it is Considered by the Court here that the afd Jeremiah Lilley pay unto Joseph MccClester the party deprived four fould of the Value of the goods afd Stolen amounting in the whole to Sixteen hundred and Eighty pounds of tobacco and that the said Jeremiah Lilley be whipt at the publick whiping post with fifteen Stripes on the bare back well Laid on untill the blood appear and that he stand Immediately in the pillowry One quarter of an hour and that he be taken &a and thereupon as to the Corporall punishment afd Command is given to the Sheriff of Somerset County that he do thereof Immediate Execution according to the Judgment afd Rendered by whiping of the afd Jeremiah Lilley at the publick whiping post with fifteen Stripes on the bare Back well Laid on untill the blood appear and by Setting him in the pillowry one quarter of an hour and afd afterwards in the Same Court Came the said sheriff and made returne that he had done the Execution of the Judgmt aforesaid as to the Corporall punishment afd he was Commanded &a Wherefore it is Considered and ordered ^by^ the Court here that the Sher of Somerset County to witt Joseph MccClester Gent Sell the afd Jeremiah Lilley Immediately to the Biggest bidder not Exceeding Seven Years towards Satisfying of the four fould afd and the Severall Officers Fees due by occasion of the premisses afd afterwards in the Same Court Came the Said Sheriffe and made Return to the Court here that he had Sold the said Jeremiah Lilley unto a Certain James Collett the Biggest bidder for one thousand pounds of tobacco) for Seven Years to COmmence from the day of the date of these presents &a towards Satisfying of the four fold and the Severall Officers Fees due by occasion of the premisses afd &a |
