June Court       1733       (30)

Purnall 'tho Often thereunto required the said seventeen pounds twelve shills and
five pence & four hundred and twenty five pounds of Tob.o to the said Rob.t hath not yett
Rendered but the same to him hitherto to Render hath denyed and still doth deny and
Unjustly Detain whereupon he saith he is worse and hath Damage to the Value of
thirty pounds mony afsd and Eight hundred and fifty pounds of Tob.o and thereupon he brings
suit &c                                                                        pledges Depros      Jno Doe

And the afd John Purnall by Levin Gale his attorney Comes and defends the force and Injury when &.c and prays leave
thereof to Imparle here untill next Court and he hath it and the same day is given to the afd Robert here also &.c

             Att which said next Court to witt the fifteenth day of august anno Dom One thousand seven hundred and
thirty two Came againe as well the Robert Gordon as the afd John Purnall by their attorneys afd and whereupon
the said John prays further Leave thereof to Imparle here untill next Court and he hath it and the same day is given
to the afd John Here also &c
                                                   Att which said Next Court to witt the Twenty first day of November anno Dom
One thousand Seven hundred and thirty two Came againe as well the afd Robert Gordon as the afd John Purnall
by their attorneys afd and thereupon the said John prays further Leave thereof to Imparle here untill next Court
and he hath it and the same day is given to the afd Robert here also &c

       Att which said Next Court to witt the ninteenth day of June anno Dom One thousand Seven hundred
and thirty three Came againe as well the afd Robert Gordon as the afd John Purnall by their attorneys afd and
thereupon the said John Says that he Cannot gainsay the action afd of the afd Robert nor but that he owes
the same Robert the afd seventeen pounds twelve shillings and five pence Currant money of Maryland and
and four hundred and Twenty five pounds of tobacco in manner and form as the afd Robert above against
him hath declared
366                        Therefore it is Considered that the afd Robert Gordon Recover against the afd John Purnall
his debt afd and his damages by Occasion of the detaining of the same debt to three hundred & sixty
six              pounds of tobacco to the same Robert of his assent by the Court here adjudged and the afd
defendant in Mercy &c
