251 Case offending Contrary to the peace of the said Lord proprietary that now is his good rule and Government and against the form of the act of assembly in such Case lately made and provided &a Test: Henry Jerman: On the backside of the Foregoing Bill of Indictment it was thus Endorsed vizt True Bill Thomas Humphrys Foreman Thereupon Command was given to the sheriff of Somerset County that he should take the afd Rebecca Collins if &.a to answer &.a and afterwards to witt the Eighteenth day of March anno Dom One thousand seven hundred and thirty four before the Justices of his Lordships County Court of Somerset now here held at dividing Creek in the same County Came the afd Rebecca Collins in her proper person and had a hearing of the Indictment aforesaid and being Instantly demanded how she would acquitt herselfe of the premisses afd above by the Indictment afd upon her Imposed says that of the premisses afd above upon her Imposed she is Guilty thereof and is willing to pay her fine for the fact afd &a Whereupon all and Singular the premisses the premisses by the Court here being seen heard and fully understood It is thereupon Considered by the Court here that the afd Rebecca Collins pay unto his Lordship the Lord proprietary for her fine by the Court hereupon her Imposed for and by occasion of the premisses afd whereof in form afd she is Convict thirty shillings Currant money for the use of the County afd and that the afd Rebecca Collins be taken to satisfie his said Lordship of the fine afd &a Whereupon the said Rebecca Collins is ordered to give Security for the payment of the several officers fees due upon the Indictment aforesaid Thereupon a Certain John Williams of the seaside in somerset County planter present here in Court in his proper person acknowledged Himselves Indebted unto his Lordship the Lord proprietary in five pounds sterling good and Lawfull money of his body goods or Chattells Lands or tenements to the use of the Officers of Somerset County Court that hath right to any fees upon the Indictment afd to be made and Levied If it happen that he doth not pay unto the said severall officers all their fees due by Occasion of the premisses afd on the Indictment aforesaid &a
Jurisdiction of this Court did Committ fornication with a Certain Geo: Bowen and did permitt the same Geo: Bowen then and there to have Carnall knowledge of her body and to begett then & there a bastard Child on the body of her the same Francis Williams to the high displeasure of almighty God to the Evill Example of all others in such Case Offending Contrary to the peace of the said Lord proprietary that now is his good rule & Governm.t and against the form of the act of assembly in such Case made and provided &a Edward Rownds On the backside of the foregoing bill of Indictment it was Endorsed Thomas Humphrys Foreman Thereupon Command was given to the sheriff of Somerset County that he should take the said Francis Williams if &a to answer &a and afterwards to witt the Eighteenth day of March |
