pounds sixteen Shillings in pork tobacco or money pork at ten Shillings and Tobacco
at a penny and the Charges of a writt which to him he owes and from him he unjustly
detaines &a

    And Whereupon the said James by George Douglas his attorney says that
whereas the af.d Charles on the twelfth day of August Ann Dom seventeen hundred
and twenty nine at Somerset County af.d within the Jurisdiction of this Court
by his Certain writing obligatory which the said James sealed with the seal of
the said Charles hereinto Court brings whose date is the same day and year af.d
did acknowledge himself to be held & firmly bound to the said James Dickerson
in the Just sum of two pounds Sixteen Shillings to be paid in pork Tobacco or
Money pork at ten Shillings p.r hundred & tobacco at one penny p pound
on or before the last day of November then next Ensuing  Nevertheless the said
Charles the af.d Sum of two pounds Sixteen Shillings either in money or pork
or tobacco at the rate af.d by the af.d last day of November or since that time
to the said James hath not rendered but the same to the said James hitherto to
render hath altogether refused & the same to him to render still doth Deny
and unjustly detain altho the same to doe the said Charles afterwards Viz.t
the day & year last mentioned at the County af.d within the Jurisdiction
af.d & often afterwards by the said James was required  whereupon the said
James says he is damnify'd six pounds Current money of maryland and thereof
he brings Suit &a                                           pledges &a  John Doe & R: Roe

Whereupon the said Charles Ramsey present herein Court in his proper person
at the prayer of the said James Dickerson by his attorney af.d is adjudged to give
Speciall bail to the action af.d                Thereupon a Certain Francis Henderson
and William Booth of Somerset County planters Came hereinto Court in their
proper persons and undertook and Each of them did undertake and assumed
upon themselves for the said Charles Ramsey (likewise the said Charles Ramsey
present as af.d assumed upon himself) that if in Case the said James Dickerson
should recover Judgm.t against the said Charles Ramsey in the plea af.d or that
the said Charles Ramsey should be therein Convict that then he said Charles
Ramsey shall pay the Condemnation of the Court thereupon or render his body ^in Execution of such Judgment^
to the prison of the sheriffe of Somerset County ^in satisfaction thereof^ or that they the said Francis
Henderson and William Booth or Each or Either of them will do the same for him &a

And the aforesaid Charles Ramsey by William Beckingham his attorney
Cometh and defendeth the force and Injury when &.a and prays leave thereof
to Imparle hereuntill next Court and he hath it and the same day is given to
the aforesaid James Dickerson here also &.a                                      (Att
