Heard the Markt pine or pine Stump before Mentioned Reputed and taken to be the first
bounder of the Land Called Deep afores.d and this Deponant further saith that at ye
time the above pine was prov'd as ^is^ above Exprest the first Course from the said pine or
pine stump was run according to the pattent thereof by order of a jury then called there
for that purpose the first Course as well as the Deponant Remembers was South East
One hundred and fifty pole and Coll William Whittington then surveyer after the
Number poles was out on the first Line af.d would not be rul'd by the Jury any further
for when the jury proposed to take a Little time to Consider what Easterly Course the surveyor
^should runn^ next he the surveyor afs.d to whit Coll William Whittington told them that since they
had found him one Course he would find the rest himself and run as he thought fitt himself
or words to that purpose and this Deponant further saith the jury did not order running
any Course but the first South East Course & that there happyned some Angry words
between Nathaniel Horsey forman of the jury afores.d and Samuel Worthington and Coll
Will Whittington or both to the best of this Deponants Remembrance  And this Deponant
further saith that he has heard it often said that Edward Wheeler who first bought the
Land Called Manloves Discovery of Tho.s Manlove did afterwards let Samuel Worthington
have the said Land and M.r Worthington af.d became paymaster to Tho.s Manlove and
further this Deponant saith Not                                                Matthew Dorman

Wee the subscribers being duely Quallified as Appears by Indorsement on a Commission
to us Directed from somerset County Court and having Complyd with all the Requisits
therein Required by Giving Due Notice Agreeable to Act of Assembly doe Certifie that the
above Deposition was Taken before us and Signed by Mathew Dorman Sen.r this 10th day of

Abraham Heath Aged forty Nine Years or there abouts Deposeth on the
Holy Evangelist of Almighty God that he was present when the pine or pine Stump
standing in ye forke of the Branches of the head of Monokin River a Little above the bridge
where a Ceadar post is not fixed in the Root thereof by Consent of Henry Dorman Ju.r &
John Finch was prov'd by White John Brown and William Heath the Brother of this deponant
and Severall Others Evidences to be the first Bounder of a Tract of Land Called Deep pattened by
John Shipway and further this Deponant Saith he Saw the pine afores.d a Marked Tree of four
Sides and that the Said Tree was always Deem'd and Taken to be the first Bounder of the Land af.d
Called Deep this Deponant further Saith that he has often seen and heard his Mother Ursly Heath
Clame a right to the plantation Called Manlove Discovery (when John Mulrain Lived a
Tenant thereon Under Samuel Worthington) in right of the Children to whom the Land Called
Deep was Bequeathed by John Shipways Will and that this Deponant has Seen his Mother
Ursley Heath afores.d when the afores.d Tenant Lived on Manloves Discovery Under Samuel
Worthington Call up Hogs many a time and pull down the orchard fence and Turn them in
before the face of the Tenant afores.d John Mulrain or his family and the said Deponant
further Saith not that at the Time the above Mentioned pine was proved to be the first
Bounder of Deep before a Jury Called there for that purpose the first Course of Deep was
Run from the pine afores.d according to pattent by Order of the Jury the Course and Distance
there Mention'd  And the Surveyer to Witt Coll ^Wm^ Whittington after the Number of One hundred
and fifty perches was Run Out Run the Rest of the Lines as he thought fit himself
without Taking any further Directions from the Jury and further this Deponant Saith Not
Wee the subscribers being Duly Quallified as Appears by Indorsment                            his
on a Commission to Us Directed from Somerset County Court and having      Abraham A Heath
