82 which scandelous and approbrious words were proved by the Oath of a Certain William Dure here in Court Likewise the aforesaid John Pope being here present submitts with a protestation of his Innocency because he will not Contend with his Lordship the Lord proprietary and puts himselfe upon the favour of the Court &.c Whereupon all and singular the [illegible] by the Court here being seen heard and fully understood and mature deliberation thereupon had Wherefore it is Considered that the afd John Pope pay unto his Said Lordship the Lord proprietary five hundred pounds of tobacco for his fine by Occasion of the premisses upon him Imposed and that the Same John Pope be taken to Satisfie his Lordship ^of^ for the fine aforesaid whereupon it is ordered by the Court here that the aforesaid John Pope Give Recognizance with One Security in ten pounds Sterling for his Good behaviour and appearance at August Court next &c Thereupon the Said John Pope with Robert Wattson his Security both present here in Court before his Lordships Justices of the peace in Court Sitting and acknowledged themselves to Owe & Stand Justly Indebted unto his Said Lordship in manner and form following viz.t the aforesaid John Pope in ten pounds Sterling and the aforesaid Robert Watson in the Sum of ten pounds Sterling of their Goods and Chattells Lands and tenements Seperately to be made and Levied to the Use of his Said Lordship the Lord proprietary his heirs and successors if default be made in the Condition hereunder Written The Condition of this Recognizance is Such that if the above bounden John Pope shall make his personall appearance before the Justices of his Said Lordships County Court of Somerset to be held at dividing Creek the third tuesday of August next and answer unto his Lordship of and Concerning such matters and things as Shall be Objected against him and Stand and abide the Judgmt of the Court thereon and do not depart without Leave of the Court and in the mean time that he be of the Good behaviour towards his Said Lordship and all other his Good people that then the above recognizance to be void and of none Effect otherwise &c
being by the Sher Set to the barr is thereupon Instantly demaned how She would acquitt herselfe of the premisses aforesaid says that of the premisses afd upon her Imposed she is Guilty thereof and makes Oath that a Certain Robert Anderson is the father of the Child She Stands presented for but hath nothing to pay her fine for the fact afd &.c wherefore it is Considered by the Court here that the aforesaid Mary Wilkins be whipt at the publick whiping post with Fifteen Lashes well Laid on untill the blood appear and thereupon as to the Corporall punishment afd Command was Given to the Sher of Somerset County that he do thereof Immediate Execution by whiping the afd Mary Wilkins at the publick whiping post well Laid on untill the blood appear and afterwards in the Same Court came the Said Sher and makes Return ^to^ the Same Court that he had done the Execution of the Judgmt aforesaid as to the Corporall punishment afd he was Commanded &c there^upon^ the Said Mary Wilkins is Ordered to Give Security for the payment of the Severall Officers their fees due by Occasion of the premisses afd thereupon a Certain Levin Disharoon present here in Court undertakes for the Said Mary Wilkins to pay the Severall officers their fees due by Occasion of ye premisses afd &c |
