Somerset County within the Jurisdiction of this Court with force & Armes did Committed fornication with a Certain Elizabeth Tingle and her the Said Eliz.a then and there Carnally did know against the peace of the Lord propry his Good rule and Government and also against the form of the act of assembly in that Case made and provided L Gale P Dom Prory On the back side of the foregoeing bill of Indictm.t it was Endorsed viz.t Billa Vera Cha Racklife Jur ^foreman^ Thereupon Command was Given to the Sher of Somerset County that he Should take the Said John Lee Jun.r if &.c to answer &.c and afterwards Now hereat to witt the sixteenth day of March anno Dom One thousand Seven hundred and thirty cometh the aforesaid John Lee in his proper person and prays a hearing of the Indictmt aforesaid and he hath it and being asked how he would acquitt himselfe of the premises afd says that he is not guilty thereof and of this he putts himselfe upon the Country and Levin Gale Esqr his Lordships attorney for for his Said Lordship in that part followeth Likewise &c Thereupon Command is Given to the Sher of Somerset County that Immediately he Cause to Come here twelve &.c by whom &.c who neither &.c to Recognize &.c because as well &.c of which preceipt the Said Sher to witt John Purnall Gent now hereat to witt the same day and year Last mentioned makes Return that he hath here Ready twelve &.c as by his Said preceipt he was Commanded &c and the Jurors of that Jury therein Impannelled being Called Came to witt James Rownd, W.m Jones, Thomas Rayley, Isaac Marshall Edward franklin, John Holland John Townsend, William Wright Thomas Collins, Daniel Boyce, Angello Atkinson, and John Hooffington who being duely Elected tryed and Sworn to Say the truth of the premisses upon their Oath do Say that the afd John Lee is not Guilty of the premisses whereof he Stands Indicted &c Therefore it is Considered that the afd John Lee of the premisses afd be quiet and Goe thereof without day &c whereupon it is ordered that the afd John Lee Give Security to pay the Severall officers their fees due by means of the premisses afd thereupon John Dennis Jun.r of Somerset County present herein Court undertakes for the Said John Lee to pay the Severall Officers fees due by Occasion of the premisses afd &.c
&.c to answer &.c and afterwards in the Same Court Came the Said Thomas Collins in his proper person and thereupon the Said Thomas Collins is Instantly demanded how he would acquitt himselfe of the premises afd says that of the primises afd he is Guilty thereof and putts himselfe in Mercy of his Said Lordship &c Therefore it is Considered that the afd Thomas Collins pay unto his Said Lordship one hundred pounds of tobacco for his fine by Occasion of the premisses upon him Imposed and that the Same Thomas be taken to Satisfie his Said Lordship of the fine afd &c |
