       set to the barr is thereupon Instantly demanded how she would acquitt herselfe of the premisses aforesaid says
       that of the premisses afd upon her Imposed she is Guilty thereof but hath not wherewithall to pay her fine for
       the fact afd
                                     Therefore it is Considered by the Justices here that the afd Martha Lewis be whipt at the
       publick whiping post with fifteen Lashes on the bear back well laid on untill the blood appear and that
       she be taken and thereupon as to the Corporall punishment afd Command is given to the sherr of Somerset
       County ^that^ she do thereof Immediate Execution by whiping the afd Martha Lewis at the publick whiping post
       with fifteen Lashes on the bear back well Laid on untill the blood appear and afterwards in the same
       court the said sherr Returns that he hath done the Execution of the Judgmt afd as to the Corporall punishment
       afd he was Commanded &.c   thereupon the afd Martha Lewis is discharged &c

We do also present Margrett Taylor of Somerset parish Spinster for bearing a bastard Child
some time in the month of August Mathew Dorman Informer    Edward Rownd foreman
            Thereupon Command was given to the sher of Somerset County that he should take the Said
       Margrett Taylor if &.c to answer &.c and afterwards in the Same Court Came the Same Margrett Taylor in her
       proper person and being by the sherr set to the barr is thereupon Instantly demanded how she would acquitt
       her selfe of the premisses afd above upon her Imposed says that of the premisses afd upon her Imposed she
       is Guilty thereof and puts herselfe upon the favour of the Court and makes Oath that a Certain Dennis
       shaw is the father of the Child she stands presented for but hath not wherewithall to pay her fine for the
       fact afd      Wherefore it is Considered by the Justices here that the afd Margarett Taylor be whipt at the publick
       whiping post with fifteen Lashes on the bare naked back well laid on untill the blood appear and that she be
       taken &.c and thereupon as to the Corporall punishment afd Command is given to the sher of Somerset County that
       he do thereof Immediate Execution by whiping the afd Margrett Taylor at the publick whiping post with fifteen
       Lashes on the bare back well Laid on untill the blood appear and afterwards in the Same Court the Said sher
       Returns that he hath done the Execution of the Judgmt afd as to the Corporall punishment afd he was Commanded
          Whereupon the Mistres of the Said Margrett Taylor to witt Susannah Wordie under takes to return her to the
       County Court or sher of the County Court to Reemburst to the County the Severall Officers their fees due by reason of
       the premisses afd &c

                                  The Jurors for the Right honrble Charles absolute Lord Proprietary of the
province of Maryland and for the Body of somerset County that Now is upon their Oath do present
                      that Thomas Fletcher late of Somerset County Court the fifth day of March anno Dom One thousand
       Seven hundred and twenty Eight at Somerset County within the Jurisdiction of this Court with force and armes
       in and upon a Certain William Stoughton Esq.r in the peace of God ^&c^ being And make an assault and affray
       and him the said William Stoughton then and there did beat wound and Evill Entreat so that of his Life
       it was despaired and other harmes to him did to the great damage of the Same William Stoughton and
       against the peace of the said Lord proprietary his Good rule and Government & L Gale P Lord Pry
Testes   Thomas Walker, James MccMorie
                               On the back side of the aforegoing Bill of Indictment it was thus Endorsed vizt Billa Vera
       Wm Selby foreman
                               And the afd Thomas Fletcher by Francis Allen his attorney Comes ^and defends the force and Injury when &c^ and prays hearing of the Indictm.t
       afd and he hath it and thereupon he Says that he is not Guilty thereof in manner and form as is above upon him
       Imposed and of this he putts himselfe upon the Country and Levin Gale ^who^ for his said Lordship in that part followeth
