        County Court of Somerset to be held at Dividing Creek the third Tuesday of March then Next to Answer
        unto Samuel Reah of a plea that he Render unto him the Sum of Seventy pounds lawfull Silver money
        of the Province of Maryland which to him he owes and Unjustly Detains &c and that thereof he should
        not fail &c

                  And the Said Samuel Reah by Francis Allen his Attorney declared against the Said Edw.d Cluff in
        the plea afs.d as followeth viz.t

        Somerset County ss   Cluf late of Somerset County Blacksmith al Dict Edwd Cluff of Somerset County in the
        Province of Merreland Blacksmith was sumond to answer unto Samuel Reah of New Castle County upon
        Delawar planter of a plea that he Render unto him seventy pounds lawfull silver money of
        the province of Merreland which to him he owes and unjustly detains &c

        And Whereupon the said Samuel By Francis Allen his Attorney sayth that Whereas the Said
        Edw.d the sixth day of March Anno Dom one thousand seven hundred and thirty one by his
        Certain Writting obligatory acknowledged himself to be bound unto the said Samuel in the aforesaid
        seventy pounds lawfull Silver mony of the province of Maryland to be paid unto the said Samuel
        when he should be thereunto Required yett the said Edward tho Often Required the said seventy
        pounds to the said Samuel hath not Rendered but the same to him hitherto to Render hath
        denyed and Still doth Deny and unjustly detain  To ye Damage of the said Samuel of forty
        pounds mony aforesaid  And thereupon he brings Suit &c and he brings into Cor.t here ye
        writing obligatory afores.d with the seal of the said Edward Signed w.ch the debt aforesaid
        in form aforesaid doth Wittness whose date is the Day and Year abovesaid &c

        A Copy of the foregoing declaration was made and sent to be served ^on ye Def.t^ with the Writt in the plea
        aforesd &c       Att which said third Tuesday of March to Witt the Twentieth day of the same
        Month Anno Dom one thousand seven hundred and thirty two Came the said Samuel Reah by his
        Attorney afs.d and the sher of Somerset County to whom the aforegoing Writt was Directed Likewise
        Cometh and Maketh Return thereof to the Cor.t here Endorsed in these words following Vizd
        Cepi Corpus Declaration delivered in time p Joshua Caldwell Sher

        Att which day the plea aforesaid with all things thereunto Relating was by Act of assembly
        and the Court Adjourned untill next Court to be held at Dividing Creek the third Tuesday of
        June next &c
                                
Att which said next Court to witt Twentieth day of June Ann.o Dom One thousand seven
hundred and thirty three Came againe the said Samuel Reah by his attorney afd and the said Edward Cluffe
by Robert Jenckins Henry by his attorney Likewise Cometh and Saith that he Cannot gainsay the action
afd of the afd Samuel Reah nor Can he say but that the writing Obligatory afd is the deed of the Same
Edward nor but that he oweth the Same Samuel the afd seventy pounds Lawfull money of Maryland
in manner and form as the afd Samuel Reah above against him hath declared &c

                   Therefore it is Considered that the afd Samuel Reah Recover against the said Edward Cluffe
399   his debt afd and his damages by Occasion of the detaining of that same debt to three hundred and
Nineteen                                    pounds of tobacco by the Court here of his assent adjudged and the afd deft
in mercy &c
