299 to be Indebted unto the said Drake Drummond the Younger in twenty pounds Sterling good and Lawfull money of England of their bodys goods or Chattells Lands or tenements to the use of the said Drake Drummond the younger his heirs or assignes if to be made and Levied If it happen that the said Levin Gale Esq.r do not during the term of Servitude Learn his Said apprentice or do his Endeavour that he be taught so much of the art of Navigation as may be Sufficient to Navigate a vessell from One Seaport town to another a Cross the Seas and do not Likewise provide for his said apprentice meat drink washing Lodging and Cloathing and al Other Necessary sufficient for such an apprentice to have and wear during the term afd &c
afd during which term the said apprentice his said master well and faithfully shall serve his secrets keep his Commandments Lawfully and honestly everywhere willing shall do and in all things as a good and faithfull servant shall demean himselfe towards his said Master and al his during the term afd &c In consideration of which service the said Levin Gale Esq.r present here in Court in his proper person Covenanteth with the Justices of the said Court in Court Judicially Sitting that he the said Levin Gale during the term afd will Endeavour or Cause that his said apprentice shall be taught or Instructed in the art of Navigation so far as may be Sufficient to Navigate a vessell a Cross the seas from one seaport to another & Likewise provide for his said apprentice meat drink washing Lodging and Cloathing and all Other Necessaryes sufficient for such an apprentice to have and wear during the term aforesaid &c Whereupon it is ordered by the Court here that the said Levin Gale Esq.r give Recognizance with one security for to Comply with the Covenants afd &c Thereupon the said Levin Gale Esq.r with Thomas Hayward his security both present here in Court in their proper persons acknowledged themselves to Owe and be Indebted unto the said Joseph Gray in the Sum of Twenty pounds ster good and Lawfull money of England of their bodys goods or Chattells Lands or tenements to the use of the said Jos Gray his heirs or assignes to be made and Levied If it happen that the said Levin Gale Esq.r do not during the term afd of Servitude Learn his said apprentice or do his Endeavour that he be taught so much of the act of Navigation as may be Sufficient to navigate a vessell a Cross the Seas from One Sea Port to another and do not Likewise provide for his said apprentice meat drink washing Lodging and Cloathing and all Other Necessarys sufficient for such an apprentice to have and wear during the term afd &c
and so upward toward the head of Synapuckson sound which said Land and Marshes we held for a Considerable |
