that Catherine Dogan Late of Somerset County Spinster the twenty Second day of October anno Dom One thousand Seven hundred and thirty two at Somerset County within the Jurisdiction of this Court did Committ fornication and had born of her body a bastard Child against the peace of the Right honrble the Lord Proprietary of this province his good rule and Government And also against the form of the act of assembly in such Case made and provided whereof the Said Robert Jenckins Henry prays advisement of the Court in the premisses and that due process of Law thereon against the Said Catherine may Issue &c Thereupon Command is given to the Sher of Somerset County that he should take the Said Cat Dogan if &c to answer &c and afterwards in the Same Court Came the Said Catherine Dogan in her proper person and had a hearing of the Information aforesaid and thereupon the Said Catherine Dogan is Instantly demanded how she would acquitt herselfe of the premisses aforesaid above upon her Imposed says that of the premisses aforesaid above upon her Imposed she is Gilty thereof but hath nothing to pay her fine for the fact aforesaid &c Wherefore it is Considered by the Justices here that the aforesaid Catherine Dogan be whipt at the publick whiping post with twenty five Lashes on the bare back well laid on untill the blood appear ^& that she be taken^ &c Thereupon Command is given to the sher of Somerset County that he should do thereof Immediate Execution by whiping of the afd Catherine Dogan at the publick whiping post with twenty five Lashes on the bear back well Laid on untill the blood appear &c and afterwards in the Same Court Came the Said Sher and made return that he had done the Execution of the Judgment aforesaid as to the Corporall punishment aforesaid he was Commanded &c
In consideration ^whereof^ the Said Samuel Handy ^present here in Court^ undertakes for to find and provide for his said Servant meat drink washing Lodging and Cloathing Sufficient for his said Servant to have and wear during the term aforesaid &c Ordered by the Court that William Bonnen a poor Object be allowed four hundred pounds of tobacco towards his Support and Maintainance untill November Court Next to be paid next Levy Court &c |
