1730 25 Court and being Severally Called over appears and being asked if they had made any bills of Indictment or presentments Return the following presentments against Thomas Collins and Margarett Peal Thereupon the Grand Jurors afd are discharged and ordered that they be allowed three hundred and Seventy five pounds of tobacco for their publick Service this Court and against the aforesaid Thomas Collins and Margaret Peal aforesaid presented it is ordered that Capias Issue returnable to next Court &c John Harper of Somerset County appointed Constable of Pocomoke hundred for the Ensuing Year; present here in Court tooke the Severall Oaths to the Government with the Oath of Constable & Subscribed the Oath of abjuration and test &c Henry Jerman appointed Constable of Boquetennorton Hundred for the Ensuing Year being present herein Court took ye Severall Oaths to the Government with ye Oath of Constable & Subscribed ye oath of abjuration & test James Caldwell appointed Constable of Nanticoke hundred in the Stead of John Nicholson for ye Ensuing Year &c Thomas Hobbs appointed Constable of Manny Hundred in the Stead of Francis White for ye Ensuing Year &c Dorman Heath appointed Constable of Manocan hundred in the Stead of Michael Dorman for ye Ensuing Year &c Samuel Long appointed Constable of Annamessex Hundred for the Ensuing Year who was present herein Court took ye Severall Oaths to the Government with ye Oath of Constable & Subscribed the Oath of abjuration & test &c David Johnson appointed Constable of Baltemore hundred for the Ensueing Year &c Daniel Cordery appointed Constable of Wickacomoco hundred for the Ensuing Year &c Nehemiah Holland appointed Constable of Mattapony hundred for the Ensuing Year &c Charles Ballard of Somerset County Gentleman appointed press master for the ensuing Year &c William Simpson of Somerset County Gent appointed press master for the Sea Side for the Ensuing Year &c
Obliged to depend upon his Children for Support they being unwilling to Suffer him to want or to be a Charge to the parish as Long as they are of ability to help him Your petitioner therefore most humbly prays your worships will please to take his present Condition into your tender consideration and order him to be tax free being Sixty three Years of age and as your petitioner before observed to your worships in a poor weak Condition and your petitioner in duty bound will pray &.c James Steel The petition aforesaid being read and heard and fully understood and mature deliberation thereupon had wherefore it is Considered by the Court here that the aforesaid James Steal be for the future tax free as by the petitioner aforesaid is praid &c John Jerman appointed Overseer of the Roads in Stead of Edward Rownds &c John Woods son of Robert Woods dec.d being of full age for the Choseing of his Gardian Comes into Court and prays that he may have ye Liberty of Chosing adam Spence Jun.r as his a Guardian &.c which is Granted &c |
