24 or any three or more of you as aforesaid such and so many good and Lawfull men of his baylywick out of Each and every hundred thereof by whom the truth of the matter in the premisses may be the better known and Enquired of Lastly you shall cause to be brought before your Courts and Jurisdiction belonging that the Same may be inspected and by due Cours of law determined Wittness Our dear Brother Benedict Leonard Calvert Esq.r our Lieu.t Generall and Chiefe Governour in and Over this Our province of maryland this 28th day of October in the Sixteenth Year of our dominion &c annoq.r Dom 1730 Benedict Leonard Calvert On the backside of the Foregoeing Commission it was thus endorsed viz.t Maryland ss Charles absolute Lord and proprietary of the provinces of Maryland and avalon Lord Baron of Baltemore &.c To William Planner, John Jones, William Fasitt John Smith of Baltemore hundred William Stoughton and John Caldwell of Somersett County Gentleman Greeting we do hereby Authorize and Impower you or either of you to administer the Severall Oaths appointed by act of Assembly as also the Oath of Justice to Samuel Hopkins, John Maclester John Handy James Dashiell John Scott and Robert King of the Same County Gent or any of them and you the said Samuel Hopkins John Maclester John Handy James Dashiell John Scott and Robert King or any of you having taken the Said Oaths are hereby Impowered to administer the Same to the Justices and Commissioners respectively as they are nominated in the within Commission and we will that you and every of you having taken the said Oaths do Severally Subscribe the test and Oath of abjuration and for do doing this Shall be your Sufficient warrant and Authority here of fail not and when you have the Same so done you are to Certifie the Same under your hands and Seals to us in Our high Court of Chancery with all Convenient Speed Wittness Our dear Brother Benedict Leonard Calvert Esq.r Our Lieu.t Generall and Chiefe Governour in and Over this Our province of maryland this 28.th day of October in the Sixteenth Year of Our Dominion &c annoqr Dom 1730 Bendt Leond Calvert (Great Seal) Which being read and heard thereupon William Planner, John Jones, William Fasitt and John Smith Baltemore hundred ^Wm Stoughton & John Caldwell^ Gent pursuant to the dedimus to them directed administred the Severall Oaths appointed by act of assembly to be taken to the Government and the Oath of a Justice to William Stoughton, John Caldwell, John Handy James Dashiell & John Scott who Severally take ye Same and Subscribe the Oath of abjuration and test and take their places and thereupon afterwards the Same John Handy, James Dashiell and John Scott administed the Same Oaths to William Planner, John Jones W.m Fasitt John Smith Baltemore hundred William Stoughton and John Caldwell who take the same and Severally Subscribe the Oath of ajuration and test and take their places as followeth viz.t
Proclamation being made in usuall form and the Sherr of Somerset County to witt John Purnall Gent makes Return of the pannell of Grand Jurors as followeth vizt Capell King, Parker Selby, Day Scott Stephen Waltom, Thomas Holbrook, W.m Cord, Christopher Nutter, John Townsend Jun.r W.m Nutter, Jones Records John Huett Nutter, John Ricketts George Benston, John Newbold, John Flemon, Thomas Pullett, John Lamberson Christopher Piper Samuel Handy, Philip Selby Joseph Howston, Samuel Trewitt, John Jerman Whereupon proclamation being made again in Common form and the Jurors afd so as afd being Impannelled & Severally Called over by their names do appear as above and thereupon they are Sworn and Charged and Sent out to Consider &.c Soon after the Grand Jurors being Impannelled sworn and Charged as afd return hereinto Court |
