107 Scandelous words the Said William in his good Name and fame aforesd is very mutch hurt and Sundry Sums of money and Tobacco to vindicate his good Charecter in that pte is forced to Lay Out and Expend Whereupon he Saith he is worse and hath Damage to the Value of fifty pounds Currant money of Maryland and thereupon he brings Suit &c And the aforesd John Riggin by William Beckingham his Attorney Comes and Defends the force and Injury when &c and prays Leave thereof to Imparle here untill the Next Court and he had it and the Same day is given to the aforesd William here also &c Att which said Next Court to witt the Seventeenth of August Ann Dom one thousand Seven hundred and thirty one Came againe as well the aforesd William Holland as the aforesd John Riggin by their Attorneys aforesd and Whereupon the same John prays further Leave thereof to Imparle here untill the next Court and he hath it and the Same day is given to the afd William here also &c Att wich said Next Court to witt the Sixteenth day of November Ann Domini one thousand Seven hundred and thirty one Came againe as well the aforesd W.m Holland as the aforesd John Riggin by their Attorneys afd and whereupon the same John Riggin prays further Leave thereof to Imparle here untill next Court and he hath it and the Same day is given to the aforesd Pleft here also &c Att which said next Court to witt the twenty first day of March ann Dom one thousand Seven hundred and thirty one Came againe as well the afd W.m Holland as the afd John Riggin Jun.r by their Attorney afd and the aforesd John Prays further Leave thereof to Imparle here untill the next ^Court^ and he hath it and the Same day is given to the aforesd William here also &c Att which Said next Court to witt the twentyeth day of June ann.o Dom One thousand seven hundred and thirty two Came to againe as well the aforesaid William Holland as the aforesaid John Riggin by their attorneys aforesaid and the Said William Holland prays that the Said John Riggin to his declaration aforesaid may answer and the aforesaid John Riggin altho' Solemnly Called Cometh not nor nothing Says in barr or preclusion of the action aforesaid of the aforesaid William for that the Said William remaineth against the aforesaid John thereof undefended &c For that the Same William Holland his damages by Occasion of the premisses against the afd John Riggin Ought to recover but becaus it is not known unto his Lordships Justices here what Damages the aforesd W.m has Sustained by occasion of the Premisses therefore Command is to the Sher of Somerset County aforesd that by the Oath of honest and Lawfull men of his bailywick or County afd he diligently Inquire what |
