that whereas he the Said William is a good true and faithfull Subjent of our Lord the king that now is and of good Name fame Conversation and Condition as well amongst his Neighbours as other faithfull Subjects of the Said Lord the king now and always was held and reputed and without any Crime of Perjury Disceitt of falsity from the time of his Nativity hitherto unhurt untouched and unsuspected hath behaved and Demeaned himself and Whereas also the Said William by Virtue of a Comission from the Worshipfull the Justices of Somerset County Court to him the Said William and a Certain Robert Nairne Jun James Nairne and John Outen Directed bearing date the twenty fourth day of November Ann Dom seventeen hundred and thirty to Examine Evidences on behalfe of a Certain Sam.l Riggin ^in^ relation to the bounds of part of a tract of Land Lying in the County afd Called Golden Lyon w.ch Said William Holland together with James Nairne and John Outen were duly Qualified and Sworn and the Said W.m Holland together with them did take the Depositions of the Severall Wittnesses Concerning the bounds of the Said Land and the same reduced in writing and the same did truly read to the Severall subscribing wittnesses and made returne of the same to the Worshipfull the Justices of the said Court According to the Directions of the Said Comission truly faithfully and honestly Nevertheless the aforesd John Riggin being not Ignorant of the Premisses of this Mare and Wicked Malice fore thought Plotting and Malitiously Intending the good Name and fame of the Said William Holland to hurt Detract and make worse these false Infamious Scandelous and approbrious words following Concerning him the Said William Holland in the presence and hearing of Sundry faithfull and Leige Subjects of our Lord the king the tenth day of March Ann Dom Seventeen hundred and thirty at Somerset County afd within the Jur of this Court did falsely & Malitiously Speak Publish Pronounce and rehearse Vizt the Commissioners (the said William Holland and James Nairne and John Outen with him in the Comission aforesd Joyned Meaning) have used me Very Barbarously (himself the Said John Riggin Meaning) for they writt one thing and read another and what the Evidence Swore (the Evidence by them Sworne meaning) they Sett Down Quite the Contrarey (the Said William Holland and the other Comissioners againe Meaning) by reason of the spaking of w.ch false and scandelous |
