202 By himself or his attorney shall apear and Answere unto the Said Samuel Hopkins Jun in a plea of trespass upon the Case &c According to Law and that by good and Lawfull men of your bailywick you make known unto the Person or persons in whose hands you make the Same Attachment that he She or they be and appear before our Justies of our County Court to be held as aforesd to Shew Cause if any he she or they have why the same goods Chattells rights or Creditts so attached in his her or their hands ought not to be Condemned and Execution thereof had and made According to act of Assembly in such Case made and provided if to him her or them it Shall Seem meet and how you shall Execute this writt that you make known unto our said Justices at the day and place aforesd and have you then and there this writt Wittness Samuel Hopkins Gent Chief Justices of our said Court the twenty fifth day of March In the Seventeenth Year of our Dominion &c Ann Dom one thousand seven hundred and thirty two Att which said third tuesday of June to witt the twentyeth day of the Same Month ann Dominion one thousand Seven hundred and thirty two being the ^day of the^ returne of the Said Writt Cometh the aforesd Samuel Hopkins by Francis Allen his attorney and the Sher of Somerset County to Whome the Foregoing Writt was Directed Likewise Comes and makes reture thereof to the Court here Endorsed Vizt By Vertue of the within writt to me Directed to the Justices within Mentioned I Certifie that upon the 15.th day of this Instant June one thousand Seven hundred and thirty two I Attached as the goods and Chattells of the within Thomas Richardson in the hands of Nathaniel Croper five pounds Nineteen shilling and one peny Currant money of this Province and five hundred pounds of Tobacco and I further Certifie that by Littleton Towensand and Thomas Latcham make known unto the Said Nath.l that he be and appear at the time and place within Contained shew &c as by the within precept I am Commanded so answere Joshua Caldwell sher Whereupon the aforesaid Nathaniel Crapper Garnishe of the aforesaid Thomas Richardson in his proper person appears and says that he Cannot Gainsay but that he hath of the Goods and Chattells of the Said Thomas Richardson in his hands to witt one Ovill Table, one Chest, One rugg and pair of Blanketts, one frying pan, one ax, one Grubbing hoe One Linnen wheel and One bed stead (all which things were valued by the Court to four pounds sixteen shillings Currant money) nor Can he say but that the Same Goods Ought to be Condemned in his hands for the use of the Said Samuel Hopkins as of the Goods and |
