199 Att Which Said third tuesday of June to witt the twentyeth day of the Same Month Ann Dom one thousand Seven hundred and thirty two being the day of the returne of the Said Writt Cometh the aforesd Adam Spence sen in his proper Person and the Sher of Somerset County to whome the foregoing writt was Directed Comes and makes returne thereof to the Court here Endorsed Vizt By Vertue of the within writt to me Directed to the Justices within Mentioned I Certifie that upon the fifteenth day of June one thousand Seven hundred and thirty two I attached as the goods and Chattells of the Within Named William Shockley in the hand of Charles Chenderson and James Steel fifteen Shilling and Eleven Pence Currant Money and two hundred fifty two pounds Tobacco and I further Sattisfie that by John Dennis and Henry Garman honest and Lawfull men &c I made known unto the Said Charles Henderson and James Steele that the be and appear at the time and place within Contained to shew &c as by the within precept I am Commanded so answere as Joshua Caldwell sher Whereupon the aforesaid Charles Henderson and James Steel in their Own proper persons and Garnishes of the aforesaid William Shockley Came here into Court and the Said Charles Henderson says that he Cannot Gainsay but that he has of the Gods and Chattells of the afd William Shockley in his hands to witt One Iron Pott, one old pale and winding Blades and reel which things are valued by ye Court here to thirteen Shillings and Six pence also the same James Steel says that he Cannot deny but that he hath of the Goods and Chattells of the Same William Shockley in his hands (to witt) one Old Spining wheel two Shaves of Flax four old trenchors & one old weeding hoe all which things so as afd Confessed by the said James Steel are by the Court here valued to fourteen shillings nor Can they say but that the afd Goods and Chattells (of the Value of) ought in their hands to be Condemned which ye same plft doth not Gainsay &c whereupon the aforesaid Adam Spence prays that the aforesaid Goods and Chattells so as aforesaid Confessed by the aforesaid Charles Henderson and James Steel as of the proper Goods of the afd William Shockley may be Condemned in the hands of the Same Charles Henderson and James Steel which to him ^is^ Granted he Giveing Security according to act of assembly in Such Case provided &c Whereupon a Certain Adam Spence Jun.r present here in Court under takes for the said Adam Spence Sen.r that in Case the Said William Shockley shall at any time here after with^in^ a year and a day appear and make all or any part of the said Adam Spence Sen.r Claime against him to be Satisfied or undue before the Laying of the attachment aforesaid that then the Said Adam Spence Sen.r shall make restitution unto the Said Willm Shockley of all or such part thereof as shall be so made appear to be undue or that he the Said Adam Spence Jun.r will do the Same for him &c Therefore it is Considered by the Justices here that the afd Iron Pott, old Pale and winding Blades and reel so as afd Confessed by the afd Charles Henderson (and valued by the Court to thirteen shillings & six pence) be Condemned in the hands of ye Said Charles Henderson as of the Goods and Chattells of the aforesaid William Shockley to^wards^ Satisfying unto the Said Adam Spence Sen.r fifteen shillings and Eleven pence Curr money |
