188 both of Somerset County planters present here in Court in their proper persons acknowledged themselves to Owe and be Indebted unto the Said John Dear in the full and Just Sum of twenty pounds Sterling Joyntly and Severally of their bodys Goods and Chattells Lands and tenements for the Use of the Said John Dear his heirs and assignes If it happen that the Said Joseph Riggin do not Learn his said apprentice during his Servitude the trade of a house Carpenter and to read write and Cypher as far as the rule of three (Inclusive) and do not at the Expiration of his Servitude Give him as many tooles as may be Sufficient to build a hous within & a new Suit of Cloaths Over and above his Common wearing Cloaths and Likewise do not find and provide for his Said apprentice Meat drink washing Lodging and Cloathing mete Sufficient for Such an apprentice to have and wear during the term aforesaid then the above Recognizance to be in full force & vertue &c otherwise &c
said Joseph Walston his said Master well and faithfully shall serve his secrets keep his Commandments Lawfully and honestly every where willingly shall do and in all things as a good and faithfull Servant shall demeane himselfe towards his Said Master and al his during the term aforesaid &c In Consideration of which Service the Said William Walston present herein Court in his proper person Covenanteth with the Justices of the Same Court in Court Judicially Sitting on behalfe of the same Joseph Walston that during the term aforesaid he will Learn his Said apprentice the trade of a bricklayer and to read write and Cypher as far as the rule of three (Inclusive) and at the expiration of his Servitude Give him a new Suite of Cloaths over and above his Common wearing Cloaths and Likewise find and provide for his said apprentice meat drink washing Lodging and Cloathing mete for Such an apprentice to have and weare during the term aforesaid &c whereupon it is ordered by the Court here that the aforesaid William Walston Give Security for to Comply with the Covenants aforesaid &c Thereupon the Said William Walston with Charles Riggin his Security both of Somerset County planters present herein Court in their proper persons acknowledged themselves to Owe and be Indebted unto Joseph Walston in the Sum of thirty pounds Sterling Lawfull money of England of the ^their^ bodys Goods & Chattells Lands and tenements Joyntly and Severally to be made and Levied for the Use of the Said Jos Walston his heirs and assignes &c If it happen that the Said William Walston do not Learn his said apprentice during his Servitude the trade of a Bricklayer and read write and Cypher as far as the rule of three (Inclusive) and do not at the expiration of his servitude Give him a new Suit of Cloaths over & above his Common wearing Cloaths and do not Likewise find and provide for his said apprentice meat drink washing Lodging and Cloathing mete for Such an apprentice to have and wear during his Servitude afd then ye above Recognizance to be in full force & vertue &c otherwise &c |
