March Court            1731                    151

Att wich said third tuesday of November Next to witt the sixteenth day of the same
month one thousand Seven hundred and thirty one the Sher of the County aforesd
then being at the Same day before his Lordships Justices at the County Court of
Somerset at Dividing Creek Returned that by Vertue of the preceipt aforesd to him
thereof Directed he had taken the body of the aforesd Mary Pointer whose body
he had there ready &c       whereupon the Said Sher altho Solemnly Called brings not in the body of the
said Mary Pointer according to the Return of the writt afd   whereupon at the prayer of the Said Sher further day is
Given to him untill the next Court to bring in the Said Mary Pointer to answer &c

    Att which said next Court to witt the twenty first day of March One thousand Seven hundred and thirty One Came
the Said Mary Pointer in her proper person and thereupon the Said Mary Pointer is Immediately asked after
what manner she would acquitt herselfe of the premises in the presentments aforesaid above upon her Imposaid
the Same Mary says that she Cannot deny but that she is Gilty of the premisses aforesaid in the
presentment aforesaid Specified above upon her Imposed and makes Oath that a Certain John Webb is the begetter
of the Child she then stood presented for &c       whereupon a Certain all and Singular the premisses by the
Court here seen heard and fully understood &c

               It is Considered by the Court here that the aforesaid Mary Pointer pay to his said Lordship for her
fine by the Court here upon her Imposed for and by Occasion of the premisses whereof in form aforesaid she is
Convict Six hundred pounds of tob.o (to the Use of the County aforesaid) and that the Said Mary Pointer be taken
to Satis^fie^ his said Lordship of the fine aforesaid   whereupon the Said Mary Pointer is ordered to Give Security for the
fine afd and all the Officers Fees due by Occasion of the premisses aforesaid   thereupon a Certain Edward Pointer of
Somerset County planter undertakes for the said Mary Pointer to pay the fine aforesaid and the Several Officers
their fees due by Occasion of the premisses afd

                Likewise it is Ordered by the Court here that the said Mary Pointer Give Security for her appearance
before the Justices of his Lordships County of Somerset to be held at dividing Creek the third tuesday
of June next to ^Give^ Evidence on behalfe of his said Lordship against The said John Webb &c

       Whereupon the aforesaid Edward Pointer present herein Court undertakes for the Mary Pointer &
Acknowledged himselfe to be Indebted unto his Lordship the Lord proprietary in the Sum of ten pou
pounds Sterling of his Goods and Chattells Lands and tenements to be made to the Use of his said Lordship
his heirs and successors &c       In Case the said Mary Pointer do not make her personall appearance before
the Justices of his Lordships County Court of Somerset to be held at dividing Creek the third tuesday of June
next and do not then and there Give such Evidence as she shall know against she shall know against the said
John Webb of and Concerning such things as he shall stands Charged with and doe not depart the Same Court
without Lycence thereof &c
