And estimation of all worthy Subjects of Our Lord the king to whom he was Known he gott and purchased nevertheless the
aforesaid Benjamin not Ignorant of the premisses but Envying the happy Estate of the Said James and Maliciously Intending
to deprive the said James of his good Name fame Creditt and estimation aforesaid and also bring him into Contempt
and ^publick^ disgrace the tenth day of November anno Dom One thousand seven hundred and twenty ^nine^ at somerset County within
the Jurisdiction of this Court these falce feigned Scandelous and approbrious words and Lyes following then &
there having Communication with the said James Robertson in the presence and hearing of divers faithfull subjects
of our Lord the king did utter and Speak vizt on the afd James Robertson saying to the said Benj.a Leburse
how he Came to Say that his negroes (the Negroes of the Same James Meaning stole) his Corn the Corn of the
said Benjamin meaning and gave it to John Bosman the said Benja Lebruse answered I did say so
whereon the Said James Robertson said to the said Benj.a that that was a poor way to revenge his Cause but it
was noe wonder he said so when he Charged himselfe (the Said James speaking to of and Meaning)
did Many time nay twenty times by pretext of which falce feigned and Scandelous words and Lyes the said
James is not only very much hurt in his good name Creditt and Estamation but hath been Obliged to Expand divers
sums of money and tobacco for the Clearing of his Innocency whereby the Said James says he is worse and hath
damage of fifty pounds Currant Money and thereof he brings Suit &.c   L Gale P Quer Pledges &c Jno Doe R Roe

          And the afd Benjamin de Lebruse by Francis Allen his attorney Comes and defends the force and Injury when &.c and
prays Leave thereof to Imparle here untill the next Court and he hath it and the Same day is given to the afd Plft here also

          Att which said nex Court to witt the Seventeenth day of March anno Dom one thousand seven hundred and twenty Nine
Came againe as well the aforesaid James Robertson as the afd Benjamin de Lebruse by their attorneys afd and hereupon
the said Benjamin De Lebruse prays further Leave thereof to Imparle here untill the next Court and he hath it and the same
day is given to the aforesaid Plft here also &c

             Att which said next Court to witt the Sixteenth day of June anno Dom One thousand seven hundred and thirty Came again
as well the aforesaid James Robertson as the aforesaid as the aforesaid Benjamin De Lebruse by their attorneys aforesaid
and hereupon the same Benjamin De Lebruse prays further Leave thereof to Imparle here untill the next Court and he hath
it and the same day is given to the aforesaid plft here also

                   Att which said next Court to witt the Eighteenth day of August ann.o Dom One thousand Seven hundred &
thirty Came againe as well the aforesaid James Robertson as the aforesaid Benjamin De Lebruse by their attorneys afd and
hereupon the said Benjamin De Labruse as before defends the force and Injury when &.c And Says that he Cannot Gainsay
the action aforesaid of the afd James nor Can he say but that he did falcely maliciously and wickedly utter pronounce
and publish of the afd James those Scandelous and Approbrious words and Lyes as the Said James above
against him Complained nor Can he say but that the afd James Ought to Recover his damages by Occasion of the
premisses afd beyound his Costs and Charges by him about his Suit in that part apposed to fifty pounds Currant Money and
those Damages above Confessed together with his Costs and Charges aforesaid to him adjudged &c

    Therefore by Consent of the parties aforesaid it is Considered that the aforesaid James Robertson Recover against the
797   aforesaid Benjamin De Lebruse his damages aforesaid to fifty pounds Currant Money by the said Benjamin in form afd
Confessed as also Seven hundred and Ninty Seven             pounds of tobacco for his Costs and Charges aforesaid to the
same James at his request by the Court here and of the Consent of the parties aforesaid adjudged and the afd deft in Mercy &.c
And upon this the afd James Robertson Gratis here in Court Relinquisheth to the afd Benjamin the afd fifty pounds Currt
mony ye Damages afd therefore the same Benjamin of those damages afd to witt fifty pounds Currt mony be thereof Quiet &c
