Granted himself to be held and firmly bound unto the aforesaid John ^in the afd sum of twenty^ one
pounds and four pence Currant to be paid to the said John when afterwards
he should be thereto Required yet the aforesaid Walter altho often thereto
Required the aforesaid twenty one pounds and four pence Current unto
the same John hath not Rendred but the same Walter the same to
render hath Denyed and Still doth deny and unjustly detain whereby
the same John says he is worse and hath Damage to the Value of
twenty pounds Currant and thereof he brings this Suit &.c     and the
said John brings hereinto Court the Writing obligatory afd is such
&.c                   Beckingham P Quer pledges &.c     Jno Do  R Roe

and the aforesaid Walter Jacobs by Levin Gale his attorney Comes and
defends the force and Injury when &.c and Sayth that he Cannot Gainsay
the action aforesaid of the aforesd John nor Can he say but that the
Writing obligatory aforesaid is the deed of the same Walter ^nor^ but that he
owes the same John the aforesaid twenty one pounds and four pence
Currant money in manner and form as the aforesaid John above
against him hath Declared

         Therefore it is Considered that the aforesd John Rider Recover
against the aforesd Walter Jacobs his Debt aforesd and his Damages
by occasion of the detaining of the Same debt to two hundred & Eighty Eight
 pounds of tobacco to the same John of his assent by the Court here
adjudged and the afd deft in mercy &.c

During the minoryty of James Smith Ex.rs of the last
will and testament of Archibald Smith late of Lewis
town in the County of Sussex upon delaware merch.t dec.d adm.r of all
and Singular the goods and Chattels of the said Archibald Smith
dec.d of a plea of trespass upon the Case &.c

And whereupon the said Robert by Francis Allen his attorney Complains
that whereas the said William the tenth day of June Seventeen
hundred and twenty seven at somerset County aforesaid Within the
Jurisdiction of this Court was Indebted unto the said Archibald in
two pounds five Shillings Curr.t mony of maryland as by account
hereunto anexed may in Court appear and being so thereof Indebted
the said William in Consideration thereof the day and year aforesd
at the place aforesaid within the Jurisdiction aforesd upon himselfe
did assume unto the said Archibald then and there did faithfully
