day of the same month in the Year aforesd and Within the County and Jur
aforesd to his own proper use did Convert and Dispose to the Damage of
him the said William twenty Pounds Currant money of Maryland aforesd
and thereof he brings Suit &.a   James Shirley P Quer pledges &c  Jno Doe  Richd Roe

    And the aforesaid Solomon Townsend by Francis Allen his attorney Comes and defends the force and Injury
when &a and prayes Leave thereof to Imparle here untill the next Court and he hath it and the Same day is Given to
the aforesaid William here also &c

                            Att which Said next Court to witt the fifteenth day of June Ann Dom One thousand Seven
hundred and thirty One Came againe as well the aforesaid William Holston as the aforesaid Solomon Townsend
by their attorneys aforesaid and whereupon the Said Solomon prays further Leave to Imparle here untill
the next Court and he hath it and the Same day is Given to the aforesaid plft here also

          Att which said next Court to witt the Seventeenth day of August One thousand Seven hundred and thirty one
Came again as well the afd William Holston as the aforesaid Solomon Townsend by their attorneys aforesaid and the
said Solomon by his Said Attorney as before defends the force and Injury when &a and Saith that he of the premises
aforesaid upon him above Imposed is not Guilty in manner and form as the Said William above against him
hath Complained and of this he putts himselfe upon the Country &.c   and the aforesaid William in Like
manner
                               Thereupon Command is Given to the Sher of Somerset County that Immediately he Cause to Come
here twelve &.c by whom &.c who neither &.c to recognize &.c because as well &.c of which Said preceipt the Said
Sher to witt Joshua Caldwell ^Gent^ now hereat this day to witt the Same day and Year last mentioned Comes and
makes Return that he hath here ready twelve &.c as by his Said preceipt he was Commanded and now hereafterwards
to witt the Same day and Year Came as well the afd plfs as ^the afd^ deft by their attorneys aforesaid and the
Jurors of that Jury therein Impannelled being Called Came to witt Edmond Hough Joseph Schofeild Thomas
Hearn John Pitts, William Broughton, William Smith, Robert Hall Hutton Hill, John White Wm Porter
John Scarbrough and Samuel Hopkins Jun.r who being duely elected tryed and Sworn to Say the truth in the premises
upon their oath doe Say that the afd Solomon is Guilty of the premisses as the afd William above against
him hath Complained and assesed the damages of the Same William by Occasion of the premisses beyound his
Costs and Charges by him about his Suit in that part apposed to nine pounds Curr.t mony and for those Costs &
Charges to One pound of tobacco

                   Therefore it is Considered that the afd William Holston Recover against the aforesaid Solomon Townsend
950    his damages afd by the Jurors afd ^in form^ assesed as also Nine hundred and fifty                     pounds of tobo
for his Costs and Charges afd to the Same William by the Court hereof his assent of Increase adjudged which
Certain damages in the whole do amount to Nine pounds Curr.t money and Nine hundred & fifty
pounds of tobacco and the afd deft in Mercy
