Somerset County ss    Be it remembred that upon the Seventeenth day of August One thousand
Seven hundred and thirty One Came into Somerset County Court Levin Gale who for the Lord
proprietary prosecutes and Gives the Court to understand and be Informed that William Beavins
of Somerset County planter at the County afd and within the Jurisdiction of this Court with force and armes
&.c and in and upon a Certain Noble Tull in the peace of God and the Lord proprietary then and there being an assault
did make and him did beat would and Evil Entreat so that of his Life it was despaired and Other harms to him
then and there did doe to his Great damage and against the peace of the right honrble the Lord proprietary
his Good rule and Government whereof the Same Levin for the Said Lord proprietary prays advisem.t

                      Thereupon Command was Given to the Sher of Somerset County that he Should take the Said William
Beavins if &.c to answer &.c and afterwards in the Same Court Came the Said William Bevins in his proper
person and being thereupon Instantly demanded how he would acquitt himselfe of the premisses afd above
upon him Imposed says that of the premisses afd he is guilty thereof &c

       Wherefore it is Considered that the afd William Bevins pay unto his said Lordship the Lord proprietary
fifty pounds of tobacco for his fine by Occasion of the premisses afd above upon him Imposed
and that the Said WIlliam Bevins be taken to Satisfie his Said Lordship of the fine afd &c

memorandum the plft by Levin Gale his attorney Sued Out his Lordships writt of
Scirefacias against the defend.ts the tenor whereof followeth in these words vizt
Somerset County ss  Charles absolute Lord and proprietary of the provinces
of Maryland and avalon Lord Baron of Baltemore &.c  To the Sher of Somerset
County Greeting whereas John Hendry Lately in Our County Court of Somerset hereto witt the Eighteenth
day of November ann Dom one thousand Seven hundred and Twenty Nine
before W.m Planner Gentleman and his Associates the Justices of our County
Court of Somrset at Dividing Creek and by Con^si^deration of the Same Court
recovered against Rachell Allexander Late of Somrset County Administratrix
of the goods and Chattles of Henry Allexander dec.d Forty two pounds four
Shillings and Five pence Currant Money of Maryland for his Damages
which he Sustained by Occasion of a Certain promise and assumption to
the Same John Hendry by the aforesaid Henry Allexander in his Life
time made and Not performed as also three hundred and Ninty Eight
Pounds of Tobacco for his Costs and Charges by him about his Suit in
that ^part^ apposed to be Levied of the Goods and Chattles which were of the
