June Court               1728                        98

in the same Court ^Came^ the ^said^ Sherr ^and^ Returnable that he hath done the Execution of the Judgmt afd
as to the Corporall Punishmt afd he was Commanded whereupon it is ordered by the Court that the
said Honour Norgate Return to her Masters Philip Covington service and further at the prayer
of the afd Phillip Covington the afd Honour Norgate is adjudged to Serve him at the Expiration
of her Now Servitude which the full term of six whole months being adjudged full Satisfaction
for all troubles Charges and Incumbrances of the house (and for keeping her Child) at the time of
the Lying in of the afd Honour Norgate   and further it is ordered by the Court that the afd
Philip Covington deliver the afd Honour Norgate at the Expiration of her Servitude unto Somersett
County Court or the sher of the Said County to reemburst to Said County what tobacco they paid
for her to the Severall Officers for fees &c

                                 The Jurors for his Lordship the Right honrble the Lord proprietary
of this province that Now is for the body of Somersett County upon their Oath
do present that John Edwards Late of Somersett County Parish in Somersett County a Servant Man
belonging to William Jones of Monagh the twentyeth day of March Anno Dom One thousand
Seven hundred and twenty Seven Eight with force and arms &c at the Parish afd in the County
afd within the Jurisdiction of this Court in and upon a Certain Mary Peirce in the Peace of
God and Our Said Lord Proprietary then and there being violently made an assault with Intention
of the same Mary Pearce then and there to ravish and Carnally to Know and other harm's to
the Same Mary Pearce then and there did doe to the great Damage of the Same Mary Pearce
and against the Peace of the Said Lord proprietary his good rule and Government &.c

On the Backside of the foregoeing bill of Indictm.t it was thus Endorsed vizt  True Bill
Thomas Humphrys foreman

                                           Thereupon Command is given to the sher of Somersett
County that he should take the said Jn.o Edwards if &.c to answer &.c and afterwards in the same
Court Came the said John Edwards and being by the Sherr sett to the barr is thereupon Instantly
demanded how he would acquitt himselfe of the premises afd Says that of the premisses afd
he is noe ways Guilty thereof and thereof for tryall putts himselfe upon the Country and
George Dashiell who for his Said Lordship in this Behalfe Prosecutes Likewise

                   Thereupon Command was given to the sherr of Somersett County tat he should Cause
Immediately to Come here twelve &.c by whom &.c who neither &.c to recognize &.c because as well &.c
of which said Preceipt the said Sherr to witt francis Allen Gentm Now hereat this day to witt the
Eighteenth day of June anno Dom One thousand Seven hundred and twenty Eight Comes and makes
