94 the Camp & that ye s.d white oake was his Bounder & further saith not Taken before us ye day and Year afd Joseph Venables Thomas Humphrys Robert King of Somersett County Gent.m Comes here into Court and brings with him a Certain Thomas Travers a servant man of Madam Mary Hampton's who had absented himselfe out of her service three hundred days and prays the Court that the said Thomas Travers may be adjudged to serve his said Mistress according to act of assembly for the Runaway time afd the said Thomas Travers being Present herein Court acknowledged that he had absented himselfe out of his ^said Mistress's^ service the full term of time afd &.c Whereupon the afd Thomas Travers is adjudged by the Court here to Serve his Said Mistress Mary Hampton at the Expiration of his Indented Servitude three days for Every one day he absented himselfe as afd which amounts in the whole to Nine hundred days the said Nine hundred days being adjudged full Satisfaction for the Runaway time afd and to Commence as afd &.c
to Examine evidences on behalfe of a Certain Thomas Humphrys of the County afd in Relation to the bounds of two tracts of Land the One Called Kaines Lott and the other Green Hill Lying in the County afd we therefore Require you or any three or two of you at Some time and place as to you or any three or two of you shall Seem Convenient you meet on the afd Land Called Kain's Lott, and Green Hill you first haveing taken your Oath on the Holy Evangelist of almighty God according to act of assembly in Such Case made & provided) & there Cause to Come before you or any three or two of you all Such Evidences as Shall be to you or any three or two of you Nominated by the Said Complaniant (or Deft if any) & yt you Examine them upon there Corporall Oaths to be by you or any three or two of you administred on the Holy Evangelist of almighty God in the presence of ye Complaniant (or Deft if any) touching the truth or remembrances of their Knowledge or any thing that may relate to the Cause afd & that reduceing the severall Depositions into Writing you send the same together with this our Commission under your or any three or two of your hands to us to our Co.ty Co.t of Somrsett with all Conveniant Speed Wittness Sam.l Hopkins Gent Chief Justice of our Said Court &a On the Backside of the foregoing Commission it was thus Endorsed vizt March ye 9.th 1726/7 Came M.r Jn.o Caldwell & Cap.t Jos Venables & was Sworn to Execute ye within Commission as the Law Directs Before me Jn.o Handy |
