       June Court                        1728            93

Holy Evangelist of almighty God and Laith his hand upon the white oak standing in the old feild
deposeth that some time agoe being in Company with Andrew Caldwell & Jno rion the said Andrew told
this Deponient that white Oake was ye first Bounder of a tract of Land Called Maiden head now in
the possession of John Caldwell as Tho.s Cox told him ho sould said Land to his father and showed him
when they first Come there to Live being about forty Years ago and going a Little into the woods
along a path to ye westard that Leads to Jno Catons this deponient Comes to ye s.d stooping white oak & laying
his hand thereon decleared that in Like Manner Andrew Caldwell showed him that tree and told him it
was the Second Bounder of said Maiden head as Thos Cox told him when he showed his father & him the
first Bounder of Said Land and further Saith Not      Sworn before us this 10.th day of Oct 1726

                            John Rion aged about fifty Eight years Sworn on of ye              Thos Humphry's
       Holy Evangelist of almighty God and Laying his hand on ye afd white oak standing in ye s.d old
feild deposeth and sayeth that some time agoe being in Company with Andrew Caldwell & Tho.s Hearn
the said Andrew told this Deponient that white oak was the first Bounder of a tract of Land
Called Maiden head now in the possession of John Caldwell as Tho.s Cox told him who sold said Land
to his father and showed ye said Bounder to his father and him when they first Came there to Live
being about forty years agoe and going a Little into ye woods along a path to ye westard that Leads
to Jno Catons this deposeth Comes to the said Steeping white oak and Laying his hand thereon
decleareth in Like Manner Andrew Caldwell showed him that tree and told him it was ye second
Bounder of Said Maiden Head as Thos Cox told him when he Showed his father & him ye first
Bounder of Said Land and further Saith not Sworn before us this 10.th day of Oct 1726

                            Robert Hastins aged about forty years being sworn on the holy Evangelist
of almighty god and Laying his hand on ye afd white oak in the old feild near ye Brick hole
deposeth and sayeth that about Eight or ten years ago Tho.s Cox Sen.r showed this deponent
that white oak and told him that it was the first Bounder of a tract of Land Called Maidenhead
where John Caldwell now Lives and further saith Not sworn before us ye 10.th day of Oct 1726

                            Thomas Hugg aged about forty five years being sworn on the holy Evangelist
of almighty God deposeth and Saith ^that^ he being Severall years in the possession of ye afd Land
Called freinds Denyall he was showed by Severall of ye Neighbours that ye first Bounder of said ^Land^
was a pine Stump and that he hath seen a marked pine Post Standing there and that there was a marked
white oak within two yards to the West of said Stump and Laying his hand on the said
stump deposeth that Stump was what was Ever was showed him and allowed to be the first bounder
of said Land and Goeing down Said Branch on ye south side of of said Branch showed us another
Pine Stump as afd and Laying his hands Thereon Deposeth that Stump was in Like Manner
