and Comfort Costan orphans as afd to Read well in the bible and to Knitt sew and spin with other
houswifery and find and provide for the Said Children Sufficient meat drink washing Lodging &
Cloathing mete for Such Children to have and wear dureing their servitude afd &c then the above
Recognizance to be void otherwise to remain in full force & vertue &c

Mathias Costan and Benton Costan orphans of Stephen Costan dec.d is bound by the Court

of their Own Consent unto Peter Benton and Comfort his wife untill they arrive
to the age of twenty One Years Each if the afd Comfort wife of the afd Peter
                                 Should Live so Long but it Pleas God the afd Comfort should depart this Life
before the afd Mathias and Benton Costan should arrive at the age of twenty one Years as afd that then
the afd Mathias and Benton Costan orphans as afd be returned tot he County Court of Somersett for
the time being &.c  the Said Peter Benton to Learn the afd Mathias Costan dna Benton Costan During
their Servitude to Read write and Cypher as far as the rule of three and the trade of a house Carpenter
and to find and provide for his said apprentices meat drink washington Lodging and Cloathing mete
for such an apprentices to have and wear dureing their Servitude afd   whereupon It's ordered by
the Court that the afd Peter Benton give Security to Comply with the Covenants afd &.c

                   Whereupon the said Peter Benton with Isaac Costan his Security both present here
in Court Acknowledged them Selves to Owe and Stand Indebted unto the said Mathias and Benton
Costan in the Sum of forty pounds Sterling to be Seperately Levied upon their bodys goods or
Chattells Lands or tenements for the Use of the Said Mathias and Benton Costan their heirs and
assigns if default be made in the Condition hereunder written

                   The Condition of the above Recognizance is Such that if the a^bove^ bound Peter Benton
do and Shall well and truely during the Servitude of the afd Mathias and Benton Costan Learn them to
Read write and Cypher as far as the Rule of three and the trade of a house Carpenter and Likewise
find and provide for the said Children meat drink washing Lodging and Cloathing Sufficient for
such apprentices to have and wear then the above Recognizance to be void and of none Effect otherwise
to stand and remain in full force and Vertue in Law &c

Jane Mathews Comes into Court in her proper person and of her own free
Consent binds he Son John Mathews unto John Harper his heirs and assigns
untill he arrives to the age of twenty one Years he being Seven Years of age
the Eighteenth day of September Next the Said John Mathews to Serve his Said Master the
full term of time afd in all Such Lawfull Service that he Should Imploy him in and about the
full term afd
                      In consideration of which Servitude the Said the Said John Harper undertakes
to Learn his said Servant during his Servitude to read well in the bible and at the Expiration of
his Servitude to give him a three Year Old heifer and a good Suit of Cloaths and Likewise find and
provide for him during his servitude Sufficient meat drink washing Lodging and Cloathing &c
