267 same month one thousand seven Hundred and thirty at diving Creek in the County afd Cometh the afd Joseph Macclester by his attorney afd and the sher of Somersett County to witt John Purnall Gent.m and returned a Certain Inquisition before him taken at the Court house in the County afd the fifteenth day May one thousand Seven Hundred and thirty by honest and Lawfull men of his bailywick or County taken by which it appears that the afd Joseph McClester hath Sustained damages by Occasion of the Nonperformance of the promise and assumption afd beyond his Costs and Charges by him about his Suit in that Part apposed to one thousand and twenty Nine pounds of tobo and for those Costs and Charges to one pound of tobacco Therefore it is Considered that the afd Joseph MccClester Recover against the afd Edward Rownd his damages afd to One thousand and thirty pounds of tobacco as by the Inquisition afd above appears also five 220/517 hundred & seventeen pounds of tobacco for his Costs and Charges by him about his Suit in that part apposed to the same Joseph by the Court here at his Request adjudged of Increase adjudged which Certain damages in the whole do amount to pounds of tobacco and the afd Edwd in Mercy &c
Whereupon in manner here Cometh the afd Eliz.a Dorothy in her proper person under Custody of the sher and being by the Sherr sett to the barr is thereupon Instantly deamnded how she would acquitt herselfe of the premisses afd says that of the premisses afd she is guilty thereof and is willing to pay her fine for the fact afd & makes oath that a Certain John Reading is the father and begetter of the Child she Stands presented for &c Therefore it is Considered by the Court here that the afd Eliz.a Dorothy pay to his said Lordship the Lord Proprietary for her fine by the Court here upon her Imposed for and by Occasion of the premisses afd whereof in form afd she is Convict thirty shillings Currant money and that the Said Eliz.a Dorothy be taken to satisfie his said Lordship of the fine afd whereupon it is ordered by the Court that the afd Eliz.a Dorothy give security for the payment of the Severall Officers their fees due by Occasion of the premisses afd Thereupon a Certain Richard Bywaters of Somersett County Taylor present here in Court in his proper person undertakes for the said Eliz.a Dorothy to pay the severall officers their fees due by means of the premisses afd &c
somersett County planter some time in July One thousand seven hundred and twenty Nine at somersett County within the Jurisdiction of this Court did Committ fornication with a Certain Elizabeth Dorothy and begott of her body a bastard Child against the peace &.c and also against the form of the act of assembly in Such Case made and provided &.c whereof the Same Levin Gale for the Same Lord proprietary prays advisement of the Court here in the premisses and that due process of Law may Issue L Gale P Domini P Lord Propry Thereupon Command was given ot the sher of Somersett County that he should take ye said John Reading if &.c to answer &c and afterwards in the Same Court Came the Said John Reading and being by the sher Sett to the barr; and ^thereupon he^ has alearing of the Information afd and Says that he is Guilty of the premisses afd upon him Imposed and is willing to pay his fine for the fact afd &.c Therefore it is Considered by the Court here that the afd John Reading pay to his said Lordship his Lord Proprietary thirty shillings Currant Money for his fine afd by Occasion of the premisses upon him Imposed and that ye Said John Reading be taken to satisfie his said Lordship of the fine afd thereupon ye Said Jno Reading is discharged paying ye Severall Officers their fees due by Occasion of the premisses afd &c |
