    August Court                       1727                23

Whilst she was Sole to whom Execution of his Last will and testam.ts was in Due forme of Law
Committed and the afd Jno Handy and Jane since the Espousalls between them Celebrated the
promise and assumption afd of the afd John Winder so as afd Made Little Regarding and Plotting
and fraudulently Intending the afd William in that part Craftilly and Subtilly to Defraud
and Deceive Neither the afd John Winder in his Life time nor the afd Jane since his death
whilst she was sole nor the afd Jn.o Handy and Jane since the Espousall Between them Celebrated
the afd Sum of five pounds ten shill.s Sterr unto the Same William Hath Paid or him for it in
any wise Contented altho' the same to do the Same (John Winder in his Life time afterwards to
Witt the ^tenth^ same day of May Anno Dom one thousand Seven hundred and seventeen & the afd Jane
after the death of the Same John Winder whilst she was Sole the Tenth day of June
Anno Dom one thousand seven hundred and Twenty and the afd Jno Handy and Jane after
the Espousalls Between them Celebrated the tenth Day of June Anno Dom one thousand
Seven hundred and twenty five at Somersett County afd within the afd Jur were there to
Requested but they and Every of them the same hitherto to Do have altogether refused &
The same John Handy and Jane the same Yet to Doe Still Do refuse Whereby the same
William Says he is Worse and hath damage to the value ten Pounds Sterr and thereof he
Brings this Suite &c                                       Levin Gale P Quer Pledges &c J Doe R Roe

And the afd John Handy and Jane his wife by George Dashiell their attorney Come and defend the force and
Injury when &.c and pray leave to Imparle hereunto untill the next Court and they have it and the Same
day is given unto the afd plft here also &c

    Att which said Next Court to witt the twenty first day of march Anno Dom One thousand Seven hundred
and twenty Six Came againe as well the afd William Allexander as the afd John Handy and Jane his Wife
by their attorneys afd and the afd John and Jane by their said attorney thereupon prayed further leave
to Imparle hereunto untill the next Court and they have it and the same day is given unto the afd plft
here also
                                    Att which said Next Court to witt the twentyeth day of June anno Dom one
one thousand seven hundred and twenty Seven Came againe as well the afd William Alexander as the
afd John Handy and Jane his wife by their attorneys and the afd John and Jane by their said attorney
thereupon prayed further leave to Imparle hereunto untill the Next Court and they hath it and the
same day is given unto the afd Plft here also &c

    Att which said next Court to witt the fifteenth day of august Anno Dom One thousand seven
hundred and twenty seven Came againe as well the afd William Alexander as the afd John Handy
and Jane his wife by their attorneys afd and whereupon the afd William prays that the afd John
and Jane to his declaration afd may answer &.c thereupon the afd attorney of the afd John and
