237 here that the afd Alice Hopkins be fined to his Lordship thirty shillings for the fact afd and that she be taken &c whereupon it is ordered by the Court that the afd Alice Hopkins give Security for the fees due to the Severall Officers upon the presentmt afd &.c Whereupon a Certain James Dashiell present here in Court undertakes for the Said Alice Hopkins to pay the Severall Officers their fees &c
in his proper person and being by the sher Sett to the bar is thereupon Instantly demanded how he would acquitt himselfe of the premisses afd Says that he is Guilty of the premisses above Imposed upon him and is willing to pay his fine for the fact afd Wherefore it is Considered by the Court here that the afd Richard Nichols be fined to his said Lordship for the fact afd toward the defraying of the County Charge thirty shillings and that he be taken &c ordered by the Court that he give Security for the fine afd and the Severall Officers fees due by Occasion of the premisses afd thereupon a Certain James Dashiell present here in Court undertakes for the Said Richard Nichols to pay the fine afd and the Severall Officers their fees due by means of the premisses afd &c Whereupon it is Ordered by the Court here that the afd Richard Nichols Give Recognizance with two Securitys to Save and keep Endempnified somersett County from all troubles burthens Charges and Incumblances that might accrew by reason of the birth maintainance and Education of a bastard Child begotten of the body of a Certain Alice Hopkins &c Wherefore their Consid said Richard Nichols with James Dashiell and Robert Collier ^his securitys^ all of Somersett County present here in Court in their proper persons acknowledged themselves to Owe and Stand Justly Indebted unto his Lordship the Lord Proprietary in the Sum of fifty pounds Sterling to be Levied of ^his^ the goods and Chattells Lands and tenements for the Use of Somersett County in Case default be made in the Condition hereunder Written The Condition of the above recognizance is Such that if the above bounden Richard Nichols do and shall well and truely for ever hereafter save and keep Endemnpnified the County of Somersett all burtherns trouble Charges and Incumbrances whatsoever that might happen or accrew by means of the birth nourishm.t maintenance and Education of a bastard Child Lately begott by the said Richard Nichols of a Certain Alice Hopkins then the above recognizance to be void and of None Effect Otherwise &c
